The Rich Solar 6500 Watt (6.5kW) 48 Volt Off-Grid Hybrid Solar Inverter 550V PV Input, sold by Rich Solar as the NOVA 6K (RS-H6548V5), is a 6,500W pure sine wave inverter with 13,000VA of surge capacity. It runs from a 48V battery bank, supplies 120V AC output, and accepts up to 550V DC of solar input, so you can wire more panels in each string.
The NOVA 6K combines an inverter, a high-voltage MPPT solar charger and an AC charger for utility or generator power in one UL 1741 certified unit. It charges at up to 120A, offers three load modes and three charging modes, and supports parallel operation with up to six units for larger systems.
The inverter delivers 6,500VA/6,500W of continuous 120V AC power regulated to within 5%, with 13,000VA of surge for starting motors, pumps and compressors. Peak efficiency is 91%, and line-mode efficiency is above 95%.
Two MPPT inputs accept 4,000W each for 8,000W of total PV. Each input handles up to 18A, with an MPPT operating range of 90V to 450V DC and a maximum open-circuit voltage of 550V DC. Longer series strings mean fewer combiner connections and less current in long wire runs.
Choose Utility Grid First, Solar First or SBU Priority to decide which source powers your loads. For charging, choose Solar First, Solar and Utility, or Only Solar. Maximum charge current is 120A from solar, AC or both.
The 120V AC input accepts utility or generator power at up to 60A. Transfer time is 10 ms in UPS mode and 20 ms in appliance mode, which helps keep computers and other sensitive loads running when grid power drops out.
Connect up to six NOVA 6K inverters in parallel to build a larger off-grid system as your loads grow.
Built-in Wi-Fi lets you monitor the system remotely through the mobile app, and a detachable LCD control module handles setup and monitoring. The inverter communicates with compatible lithium battery BMS units and supports AGM, Gel, flooded and lithium batteries.
The inverter protects against overload, over-temperature and short circuits, with battery overcharge protection at 66V DC. A cold start function lets the inverter start from the battery when utility power is unavailable.
Off-grid homes. Run household circuits from a large solar array and a 48V battery bank, with a generator for backup.
Cabins and tiny homes. Place the array far from the cabin and use high-voltage strings to keep wire sizes reasonable.
ADUs and residential backup. Power a secondary dwelling or keep critical circuits running during outages.
Shops, barns and pump houses. Rich Solar lists commercial applications for the NOVA 6K, and the 6,500W output handles tools, lighting and pumps.
Large RVs. Rich Solar also lists RVs among the NOVA 6K's applications.
Versus the Rich Solar NOVA 6548. Both are 6,500W 48V hybrid inverters with 8,000W of PV input and 120A of charging. The NOVA 6548 tops out at 250V DC of solar input and supports split-phase setups, while the NOVA 6K accepts up to 550V DC for longer strings.
Versus separate components. A separate inverter, AC charger, transfer switch and solar charge controller need more wiring and wall space. The NOVA 6K puts them in one unit.
Versus a low-voltage solar charger. Controllers limited to around 150V DC force more parallel strings and heavier wire. The 550V input lets you wire many panels in series and run thinner cable over long distances.
