Portable solar power refers to a system that harnesses energy from the sun and converts it into usable electricity for small, mobile devices. It typically consists of a solar panel that captures sunlight, a charge controller that regulates the flow of electricity, and a battery or power bank that stores the generated energy.
Portable solar power is a convenient and eco-friendly solution for powering small devices, particularly in remote or off-grid locations. It can be used for camping, hiking, boating, or other outdoor activities where access to electricity is limited or unavailable. Additionally, it can be used as a backup power source at home in case of emergencies, such as power outages or natural disasters.
There are several components that comprise a portable solar power system.
The solar panel is the primary component of a portable solar power system. It is made up of photovoltaic cells that convert sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity. The size and output capacity of the solar panel will vary depending on the intended use and the amount of energy needed. After the solar panel captures energy from the sun and convert it into DC electricity, it is then fed into a charge controller.
The charge controller is responsible for managing the flow of electricity from the solar panel to the battery. It ensures that the battery is charged at the optimal rate and prevents overcharging or discharging, which can damage the battery.
The battery, power bank, or power station is used to store the electricity generated by the solar panel. It can be used to power small devices directly or can be used to recharge other devices, such as phones or laptops. Often, power stations have a built-in charge controller which eliminates the need to purchase one separately, but it is best to research any power station to confirm.
A solar generator kit typically includes most or all of the components that allow you to generate and store electricity from the sun. The main components of a solar generator kit include a solar panel or panels, a charge controller, a battery bank, and an inverter.
It’s even better than I expected. The 6000 watt output is more than enough to power our entire home minus the 4 ton central ac. We recently had our first power outage since we purchased this and we are extremely happy with the performance. The best part in my opinion is having the option to add 2400 watts of solar to charge the unit as you use it. Thank you for the awesome unit.
Thank you for your fantastic feedback! 😊 We're thrilled to hear the F3800 exceeded your expectations and powered your home seamlessly during a recent outage. The ability to add solar for charging while using it really is a game-changer, and we're glad you're taking full advantage of it (in the future). If you ever need assistance or have questions, we're here to help. Thanks again for choosing Outbound Power!
Price matching was straightforward if they can do it, they'll do it. If they can't then maybe you're asking too much.

The BP3800 is an easy plug and play expansion battery for the F3800 to add another 3840kw to the system. I have two F3800 with four of the BP3800 expansion batteries connected in my setup now. Paired with the home power panel it is a seamless integration with my critical load panel. When the grid drops out the F3800 takes over so fast that is isn’t even noticeable.
Thank you for sharing your experience! It’s great to hear that the BP3800 and F3800, paired with the home power panel, have provided seamless and reliable backup power for your critical load panel. That level of integration and performance is exactly what we aim to deliver. If you have any questions or need assistance expanding your setup further, we’re here to help.
