The Renogy CORE Series 12V 300Ah Self-Heating Deep Cycle Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery is a high-capacity LiFePO4 battery for RVs, vans, cabins, boats and home backup. A single battery stores 3.84kWh, supplies up to 200A continuously and is rated for 5,000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge. Renogy says it delivers about 50% more energy than a 200Ah LiFePO4 battery of the same size.
Built-in self-heating uses 200W heating elements that switch on at 32°F (0°C) whenever a charge current above 10A is available, warming the cells so the battery can accept a charge on cold mornings. The battery management system cuts off charging and discharging at unsafe temperatures, and a rugged IP65 case is built to handle bumps and vibration on the road.
With 300Ah at 12.8V, a single battery can replace several lead-acid batteries or two smaller lithium batteries, saving space and wiring.
200W heating elements warm the battery about twice as fast as many heated batteries. Heating starts at 32°F (0°C) as long as each battery receives a stable charge current above 10A from solar, a DC-DC charger or an AC charger.
The 200A BMS supports large inverters and fast charging, and protects against overcharge, over-discharge, overcurrent, short circuits and extreme temperatures.
Renogy rates the battery for 5,000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge, using EV-grade cells. That is nearly ten times the life of a typical lead-acid battery.
Reinforced internal structure protects components from shocks and vibration, and the IP65 case resists dust and water.
Connect up to 4 batteries in series for 24V, 36V or 48V, up to 4 in parallel, or 16 in a 4S4P bank for up to 61.44kWh. Use batteries of the same model and generation. Renogy notes that this Generation 2 battery should not be mixed with Generation 1 units.
RVs and vans. Run a refrigerator, lights, fans, a coffee maker and an inverter for days between charges. Renogy estimates four batteries in parallel can power essential RV appliances for up to 5.5 days.
Cabins and off-grid homes. Build a 48V bank with four batteries in series to run a refrigerator, lights and even an air conditioner.
Boats. Power electronics, refrigeration and house loads on fishing and cruising boats.
Home backup. Keep essentials running through storms, wildfires and outages.
Versus lead-acid batteries. A 300Ah lead-acid bank weighs several times more, delivers only about half its rated capacity and lasts a few hundred cycles. This battery gives you nearly all 300Ah and thousands of cycles.
Versus two 12V 200Ah batteries. Two 200Ah batteries give more total capacity but take more space and wiring. One 300Ah battery is simpler when space is limited.
Versus non-heated LiFePO4 batteries. Standard lithium batteries cannot be charged below freezing. Self-heating lets this battery recharge from solar or an alternator on cold mornings without manual warming.
