The Rich Solar 60 Amp MPPT Solar Charge Controller (RS-MPPT60) delivers up to 60A of charging current and automatically detects 12V, 24V, 36V or 48V battery systems. Rich Solar rates it for up to 800W of solar at 12V, 1,600W at 24V, 2,400W at 36V and 3,200W at 48V, with up to 99% MPPT tracking efficiency and up to 98% conversion efficiency.
With a 150V maximum solar input, the controller can take long series strings of panels, which keeps current and wire size down on larger arrays. It supports sealed, gel, flooded and lithium batteries, can charge over-discharged lithium batteries, and connects to the optional Rich Solar BT-1 Bluetooth module through its RS232 port.
Maximum power point tracking keeps your panels at their most productive operating point and converts surplus voltage into charging current. Up to 60A of output makes this controller a fit for large battery banks in cabins, homes and big RVs.
The controller identifies the battery system voltage during installation. That makes it useful for growing systems, since the same controller can move with you from a 12V or 24V bank to 48V, where it supports up to 3,200W of solar.
Maximum solar input voltage is 150V at 77°F and 145V at -13°F. Higher string voltage means more panels in series, fewer parallel connections and lighter cable for long runs from the array.
Charging settings cover sealed, gel, flooded and lithium batteries, and the controller can charge lithium batteries that have been over-discharged.
The LCD with LED indicators shows charging status, battery information, operating parameters and fault codes. Add the BT-1 Bluetooth module through the RS232 port to monitor the system from your phone.
Charge circuit voltage drop is 0.26V or less, and discharge circuit voltage drop is 0.15V or less. Electronic protection guards against reverse polarity, overcharging, overload and short circuits, and the die-cast aluminum housing dissipates heat.
Off-grid homes and cabins. Charge a 48V battery bank from up to 3,200W of solar.
Large RVs and fifth wheels. Run up to 800W of roof solar on a 12V lithium bank, or more on 24V.
Boats. Rich Solar lists marine use, and the 12V to 48V range covers most house bank voltages.
Remote sites. Power communications, monitoring and pump systems with long array-to-battery runs.
Backup power. Recharge a home backup battery bank from solar during extended outages.
Versus the Rich Solar 40 Amp MPPT controller. The 40A model handles 12V and 24V systems with up to 1,100W of solar and 100V of input. The 60A model adds 36V and 48V support, 150V input and up to 3,200W of solar.
Versus multiple smaller controllers. One 60A controller can replace two or three smaller units, with fewer connections and one place to check system status.
Versus a PWM controller. PWM controllers cannot use high-voltage strings efficiently. With a 150V input and MPPT conversion, the RS-MPPT60 harvests more energy from series-wired arrays.
This may be a good fit if
Yes. It detects 12V, 24V, 36V or 48V automatically and supports up to 3,200W of solar at 48V.
No. It works with the optional Rich Solar BT-1 Bluetooth module, which connects to the RS232 port.
Yes. It supports lithium batteries and can charge over-discharged lithium batteries.
The load output is rated for 20A, which suits DC lighting, fans and small pumps.
The Rich Solar 60 Amp MPPT Solar Charge Controller brings 60A of MPPT charging, 150V input and 12V to 48V auto detection to large off-grid and backup systems. At Outbound Power, we help customers design solar strings, size battery banks and choose the right controller. If you have questions, our team is happy to help.
