The SunGold Power 3000W DC 12V Pure Sine Wave Inverter With Charger Brings Big Surge Capacity and a 90 Amp Charger to 12 Volt Systems

The SunGold Power 3000W DC 12V Pure Sine Wave Inverter With Charger is the middle model in SunGold's 12 volt LFP series of low frequency inverter chargers. It converts 12 volt battery power into 120 volt pure sine wave AC, recharges the batteries at up to 90 amps whenever grid, shore, or generator power is available, and switches between the two automatically through a built-in transfer switch.

With 3000 watts of continuous output and a 9000 watt surge rating for 20 seconds, it gives a 12 volt RV, truck, or cabin system enough capacity to run several household loads at once, including the motor-driven appliances that trip smaller inverters on startup.

SunGold Power 3000W DC 12V Pure Sine Wave Inverter With Charger Features

9000 Watt Surge for Motors and Compressors

Because it is built around a low frequency transformer, this inverter can deliver three times its rated output for up to 20 seconds. That reserve is what lets it start a refrigerator, a microwave, an air compressor, or a power tool without shutting down, while the 3000 watt continuous rating covers the steady load once everything is running.

90 Amp Three-Step Battery Charger

When AC input is connected, the integrated charger delivers up to 90 amps (±5A) using a 3-step intelligent charging profile. Nine battery type settings cover lithium, AGM, gel, and flooded batteries, and the charge current can be dialed from 0 to 100 percent or turned off. That is especially useful when charging from a small portable generator that cannot supply the full charging load.

Built-In 30 Amp Transfer Switch

SunGold rates the transfer switch at 30 amps for this model. When AC input fails, the inverter takes over the load with a typical transfer time of 10ms, and the input voltage window can be set to 90 to 135VAC or 100 to 135VAC with the SW2 switch.

AC Priority or Battery Priority

By default the inverter uses incoming AC first and holds the batteries in reserve, which suits home backup and RVs on shore power. The SW5 switch changes it to battery priority, so a solar-charged battery bank carries the load and the inverter only falls back to AC when the batteries run low, then recharges them.

Automatic Generator Start

The inverter can signal a compatible generator to start when battery voltage drops and shut it off once charging is complete, which helps keep an unattended off-grid system running.

Remote Control, BTS Cable, LCD, and GFCI Outlet

SunGold includes a remote control and a battery temperature sensor cable. The LCD display shows operating status, the GFCI outlet adds a layer of protection at the unit, and power saver mode cuts idle draw from 55 watts to 20 watts. Output frequency can be set to 50 or 60Hz with SW4.

Real-World Applications

RVs and fifth wheels. Run a microwave, coffee maker, and entertainment system from your house batteries, then recharge them quickly at 90 amps when you plug into shore power or start the generator.

Home backup. Keep a refrigerator, freezer, lights, and internet equipment running during an outage from a 12V battery bank, with automatic transfer when the grid drops.

Work trucks and service vehicles. Power saws, drills, battery chargers, and small compressors from a truck-mounted battery bank.

Off-grid cabins. Pair it with lithium batteries and a separate solar charge controller, and use battery priority with automatic generator start to stretch your stored energy.

How It Compares to Common Alternatives

Versus the 2000W and 4000W 12V models. The 2000W version has a 70 amp charger and lighter weight, while the 4000W version offers a 120 amp charger and 40 amp transfer switch. The 3000W model sits in between for systems that need more than 2000 watts but do not justify the larger unit.

Versus high frequency inverters. High frequency inverters are lighter but usually have much lower surge ratings. This model weighs 49 pounds but handles a 9000 watt startup surge.

Versus all-in-one solar inverters. This unit has no built-in solar charge controller, so solar charging requires a separate controller.

Is This Inverter Charger the Right Fit

  • Battery voltage. It requires a 12 volt battery bank sized for a 3000 watt load.
  • AC service. It takes 120VAC input and provides 120VAC output, single phase.
  • Charging needs. A 90 amp charger suits mid-size and large 12V battery banks.
  • Space and weight. Plan for a 22 x 9.1 x 7.5 inch, 49 pound unit mounted close to the batteries.

This may be a good fit if

  • You run a 12V RV, truck, or cabin system
  • You need to start motor loads like refrigerators and compressors
  • You want fast battery charging from shore power or a generator
  • You prefer one unit over a separate inverter, charger, and transfer switch

Common Questions

Is It Compatible With AGM and Lithium Batteries?

Yes. SunGold confirms compatibility with AGM and lithium iron phosphate batteries, and the charger has 9 battery type settings.

How Large Is the Transfer Switch?

SunGold rates it at 30 amps on the 2000W and 3000W models and 40 amps on the 4000W model.

What Happens When the Battery Runs Low in Battery Priority?

The inverter switches to AC input to carry the load and charge the battery.

Does It Include Solar Charging?

No. Add a separate solar charge controller if you plan to charge from panels.
