The SunGold Power 5000W 48V Solar Charger Inverter is an all-in-one off-grid power center for 48 volt battery systems. It combines a 5000 watt pure sine wave inverter with 120V output, a high voltage MPPT solar charge controller, and a 40 amp AC battery charger. When grid or generator power is lost, it switches to battery power in about 10 milliseconds, so it can act as a UPS for your loads.
It is available in two versions. The SPH504880A has an 80 amp MPPT controller and is a standalone unit. The SPH5048P has a 100 amp MPPT controller and a built-in parallel kit, so up to 6 units can be combined for as much as 30kW in single phase, 120/240V split phase, or 208V three phase configurations.
The inverter delivers 5000 watts of continuous 120VAC output (settable to 100, 105, or 110VAC) with a 10000VA peak rating. SunGold lists a loaded motor capacity of 4HP on the SPH504880A.
Both versions accept up to 500V open circuit from the solar array with a 120 to 450VDC MPPT range and up to 5500 watts of PV input. The SPH504880A charges at up to 80 amps, and the SPH5048P at up to 100 amps. High voltage strings mean fewer parallel connections and lighter PV wiring.
With 110/120V AC input from the grid or a generator, the built-in charger provides up to 40 amps. Typical transfer time is 10ms.
SunGold offers AC priority, solar priority, solar only, and mains plus solar hybrid charging. Battery settings cover AGM and sealed, gel, flooded, and lithium batteries, plus a user mode for custom values.
The SPH5048P can be paralleled up to 6 units for 30kW. Two or more units can provide 120/240V split phase, and three or more can support 208V three phase. The SPH504880A does not support paralleling.
Communication interfaces include USB, RS485, and dry contact control, with optional Wi-Fi monitoring. Protection covers overload, over-temperature, short circuit, low voltage, over-voltage, and reverse PV wiring.
Off-grid homes and cabins. Run 120V loads on solar with a 48V lithium bank and generator backup.
Scalable systems. Start with one SPH5048P and add units later for split phase or three phase power.
Home backup. Use the UPS function to keep critical 120V circuits powered during outages.

SPH504880A versus SPH5048P. The SPH504880A is the lower cost standalone option with 80 amp MPPT. The SPH5048P adds 100 amp MPPT and parallel capability.
Versus the 3000W 24V model. The 5000W version runs on 48V and supports larger loads and arrays.
Versus split phase all-in-one inverters. A single unit provides 120V only. For 240V loads from one inverter, consider SunGold's 6.5KW, 8KW, or 10KW split phase models.
