The SunGold Power 12KW 48V Split Phase Inverter is a low frequency, pure sine wave inverter charger from SunGold's LF-PV series. It converts 48 volt battery power into 120 and 240 volt split phase AC, recharges the battery bank at up to 115 amps from 240VAC grid or generator power, and switches loads automatically through a built-in transfer switch.
At 12000 watts continuous with a 36000 watt surge, it is sized to carry a whole home or small business panel, including large motor loads such as air conditioners, well pumps, dryers, and shop equipment. It does not include an MPPT solar controller, which makes it a fit for systems that use separate charge controllers or rely on grid and generator charging.
The heavy low frequency transformer gives this inverter a 300 percent surge rating for 20 seconds. That reserve helps start compressors and pumps without tripping, while 12000 watts continuous runs several large appliances at once.
The inverter supplies 120V and 240V for a standard split phase panel. SunGold notes that 120V loads cannot exceed 50 percent of the inverter's rated power, or 6000 watts, so 120V circuits should be balanced across both legs.
When 240VAC is connected, the 4-step charger delivers up to 115 amps (±5A), adjustable from 0 to 100 percent. Power factor correction on the charger helps it work efficiently with generators, and 8 battery type settings cover LiFePO4, gel, AGM, and lead acid batteries.
Typical transfer time between utility and battery is 8ms (10ms max). When AC power returns, the inverter waits 15 seconds before transferring back, which protects loads when a generator is starting up.
Automatic generator start (AGS) can bring a generator online when batteries run low. AC or battery priority lets you choose whether grid power or stored energy is used first.
SunGold includes a remote control and BTS cable for temperature-compensated charging. Power saver mode lowers idle consumption from 180 watts to 40 watts.
Whole-home off-grid systems. Run a 120/240V main panel with HVAC, well pump, and kitchen appliances from a 48V lithium bank.
Home and business backup. Keep a full panel or large critical-loads panel running during outages.
Shops and farms. Power 240V compressors, pumps, and shop equipment.
Generator-assisted systems. Combine with a 240V generator and AGS for reliable charging when solar or grid power is not available.
Versus the 15KW and 18KW models. The larger LF-PV models add continuous output and surge capacity. The 12KW unit has the highest charge rate of the three at 115 amps.
Versus all-in-one solar inverters. Hybrid and all-in-one units include MPPT solar controllers. This model does not, so solar panels need external charge controllers.
Versus high frequency inverters. High frequency units are lighter but typically cannot match a 36000 watt surge.
