Outbound Power's Home Backup Installer Directory helps homeowners find licensed local professionals to install battery backup, generators, transfer switches and solar. Here's exactly how installers get listed, what our labels mean, and what they don't.
How Installers Get Listed
Installers Apply or Are Invited
Installers apply through our website. We also research local installers and invite strong candidates to apply.
Research Alone Never Lists Anyone
An installer appears only after they apply and confirm in writing that their details are accurate.
We Check Before Listing
Before listing, we check the business's license with the state (or local) licensing authority, match its name, address and phone against its license record and review profiles, and list only the services its past work shows.
What Our Labels Mean
-
No badge
Listed
The installer applied and confirmed that their business details and service area are accurate. We matched the business's name, address and phone against its license record and review profiles, confirmed its required license was active in the licensing authority's database on the date we checked, and list only the services its past work shows.
-
✓ Verified by Outbound Power
Verified by Outbound Power
Everything in Listed, plus: we reviewed a current certificate of insurance, confirmed the business is active with its state, confirmed contact details on a live call, and reviewed public customer feedback on at least two platforms without finding a disqualifying pattern of complaints. We re-check at least every 12 months, and the badge shows the month we last verified.
-
[Brand] Certified Installer
Manufacturer Certified Installer
We confirmed the installer's certification on that manufacturer's installer locator, or by reviewing a certificate. It's shown only for the specific brands we confirmed.
-
Brands (per installer)
Brands They Work With
Brands the installer reports installing. We don't independently confirm these. A brand we've confirmed also shows as a "[Brand] Certified Installer" badge.
What "Verified" does not mean: we haven't inspected installers' work, audited their workmanship, or guaranteed their prices, timelines or results. Verification isn't a certification for every product.
Our Commitments
No Referral Fees
We don't charge installers for listings or for your inquiry, and we don't charge you. When you contact an installer, you deal with them directly.
Your Agreement Is With the Installer
Installers here are independent businesses, not employees or agents of Outbound Power. Get written quotes and confirm that permits will be pulled before you sign.
Report a Concern
If you have a concern about a listed installer, contact us and include the installer's name. We acknowledge concerns within 2 business days and, with your permission, share them with the installer for a response. Serious safety, fraud or licensing concerns backed by evidence lead to immediate suspension while we review. Installers with repeated, substantiated complaints are removed. For disputes about an installer's work, your state's contractor licensing board is the right place to file a complaint.
For Installers: Directory Listing Terms
- You confirm your information is accurate, and you'll tell us about changes, including any license or insurance lapse, within 30 days.
- Outbound Power may verify your information, edit descriptions for clarity and consistency (you approve the profile text before it's published), and suspend or remove a listing, for example for a lapsed license, substantiated complaints or misrepresentation.
- A listing doesn't create any agency, employment, partnership or referral relationship. You're solely responsible for your work, permits, warranties and contracts.
- You can request changes or removal at any time. We process them within 5 business days.
- We may change these terms with at least 30 days' email notice, and you can remove your listing at any time.
