The ACOPower Flexible Solar Panel Kit combines ACOPower's 110W semi-flexible panels with a matching charge controller and the cables needed to get power from the roof to the battery. Choose from 110W to 550W of solar. The 110W and 220W options include a 20A waterproof PWM controller, and the 220W through 550W options use an MPPT controller sized to the array.
Each panel is just 3 mm thick and 4.85 lbs, and can flex up to 27 degrees to follow a curved roof. That makes the kit a good match for vans, buses, teardrop trailers and boats where a framed glass panel would be too heavy or would not sit flat.
The panel can be gently flexed into a smooth curve of up to 27 degrees, so it follows the shape of a bus or van roof, a boat deck, a cabin top or a tent frame.
At just 3 mm thick and 2.2 kg (4.85 lbs), the panel weighs a fraction of a framed glass panel, and it can be installed without structural roof reinforcement.
High-efficiency SunPower cells give the panel a module efficiency of 20.5%. The cells are laminated under a scratch-resistant, weather-resistant ETFE surface.
Four metal-reinforced holes at the corners let you screw the panel down, or you can attach it with adhesive, grommets, zip ties or hook-and-loop strips for a non-permanent install.
Kits with 110W or 220W of solar use ACOPower's 20A waterproof PWM controller, which supports 12V and 24V batteries and eight battery types including LiFePO4. The MPPT options (30A for 220W and 330W, 40A for 440W, and 50A for 550W) convert extra panel voltage into charging current for more harvest from the same panels.
A 30 ft PV cable runs from the panels to the controller, an 8 ft tray cable connects the controller to the battery, and a cable entry housing seals the roof penetration.
Camper vans and buses. Follow the curve of the roof for a low-profile, stealthy install.
Boats and yachts. Mount on curved decks, hard tops and biminis.
Teardrops and trailers. Add solar without the weight of framed panels.
Golf carts and tents. Attach temporarily with grommets or straps.
Versus rigid framed panels. A framed 100W panel weighs about 13 lbs and needs mounting brackets. The flexible panel is far lighter and lower profile, but a framed panel generally lasts longer and runs cooler because air can flow underneath.
Versus portable suitcase kits. Portable kits are set up at camp. A flexible panel stays mounted and charges while you drive.
PWM versus MPPT options. PWM keeps cost down for one or two panels on a 12V battery. MPPT gets more charge from larger arrays and panels wired in series.
