Generac battery pad heater G0071010 for air-cooled standby generators with the lead and plug

The Generac Battery Pad Heater for Air-Cooled Home Standby Generators Keeps the Battery Warmer for Cold Starts

The Generac Battery Pad Heater, model G0071010 (kit 7101), is an adhesive heater pad that sits under the battery in the generator. It runs on 240V and draws 40 watts.

Generac says it is only compatible with units manufactured 2008 to 2025 that use a 26R battery. It is recommended where the temperature is 32 degrees F or below.

Generac Battery Pad Heater for Air-Cooled Home Standby Generators Features

Turns On and Off Automatically

The heater turns on at 40 degrees F and off at 55 degrees F. You do not have to switch it by hand.

Low 40 Watt Draw

The pad is rated 240V, 40 watts and 0.17 amps. It connects to the N1 and N2 terminals in the generator.

Sits Under the Battery

The pad warmer rests under the battery. An adhesive backing holds it to the battery tray.

Y-Harness for a Second Heater

A Y-harness comes with the heater and gives a second connection point for an optional oil filter heater.

Real-World Applications

Cold Winters. Add the pad where temperatures drop to 32 degrees F or below so the battery is warmer for starting.

Older Standby Units. Generac lists it for units built from 2008 to 2025 with a 26R battery.

Paired With an Oil Heater. The included Y-harness lets you connect an oil filter heater to the same circuit.

Practical Comparison

Versus No Battery Heater. Without a heater, the battery stays at the ambient temperature. The pad warms it when the thermostat turns it on.

Versus the Oil Filter and Breather Heaters. Generac makes separate heaters for the oil filter and the breather. This one warms the battery only. Add the others if your climate calls for them.

Is the Battery Pad Heater the Right Fit

  • Fits. Units manufactured 2008 to 2025 with a 26R battery. Generac does not publish a kW range for this heater.
  • Battery type. Generac's instructions say it is not necessary for AGM-style batteries.
  • Oil change required. Generac requires that the oil be replaced with 5W-30 synthetic when you install any cold weather item.
  • Installation. Qualified personnel only. The generator must be shut down, with utility power off at the transfer switch, before you start.

This May Be a Good Fit If

  • Your generator is a 2008 to 2025 unit with a 26R battery.
  • You live where temperatures fall to 32 degrees F or below.
  • You want a heater that turns on and off by itself.
