Generac breather heater 7103 cable with spiral element for standby generator engines

The Generac Breather Heater for Air-Cooled Home Standby Generators Fights Icing in Extreme Cold

The Generac Breather Heater, kit 7103, is a 120V heater that wraps around the engine breather hose. It is only for use in extreme cold weather applications, with icing in mind.

Generac says it is only compatible with units manufactured 2013 to 2025. It needs an Evolution controller. Generac lists it for Guardian Series 10 kW to 26 kW and Next Generation Series 10 kW to 28 kW air-cooled units.

Generac Breather Heater for Air-Cooled Home Standby Generators Features

Made for Extreme Cold

Generac recommends it at 0 degrees F or below. It is meant for extreme cold weather applications only.

Low Power Draw

Generac lists 120V, 6.5 watts and 0.054 amps at 60 Hz. It connects to T1 and Neutral.

Automatic Control

It turns on at 40 degrees F and off at 55 degrees F.

Silicone Tape Provided

The heater wraps around the breather hose and is secured with the silicone tape that comes with it.

Real-World Applications

Deep Winter Climates. Add it where temperatures drop to 0 degrees F or below.

Standby Units With Evolution Controllers. Generac says the heater requires the Evolution controller.

Complete Cold Weather Setup. Pair it with the battery and oil filter heaters if your climate calls for all three.

Practical Comparison

Versus the Battery and Oil Filter Heaters. Those two are recommended at 32 degrees F or below. The breather heater is for extreme cold at 0 degrees F or below.

Versus No Breather Heater. In extreme cold the breather can ice up. This heater warms it as the thermostat calls for heat.

Is the Breather Heater the Right Fit

  • Fits. Units manufactured 2013 to 2025 with the Evolution controller, Guardian 10 kW to 26 kW and Next Generation 10 kW to 28 kW air-cooled.
  • Oil change required. Generac requires that the oil be replaced with 5W-30 synthetic when you install any cold weather item.
  • Installation. Qualified personnel only. Leads connect to T1 and the neutral stud in the customer connection panel.

This May Be a Good Fit If

  • Your generator is a 2013 to 2025 unit with an Evolution controller.
  • You face extreme cold with icing at 0 degrees F or below.
  • You want a low-wattage heater that cycles by itself.
