The Generac Cold Weather Kit, model 006808-0, is an automatic, thermostatically controlled set of heaters for PowerPact generators. It includes a battery pad warmer, a crankcase heater and a breather warmer.
Generac says the kit is intended for 7 kW PowerPact systems and recommends it where the temperature regularly falls below 32 degrees F.
The pad warms the battery. When the temperature drops below an acceptable level, the thermostat turns it on.
The crankcase heater warms the engine oil. Generac says the heater helps the engine start.
The breather warmer is part of the kit, so all three cold weather heaters come together.
The heaters are thermostatically controlled, so they run when the temperature calls for it.
Cold Winters. Install the kit if your PowerPact regularly sees temperatures below 32 degrees F.
Unattended Standby. A generator that starts when you are not there needs to start in cold weather. The warmers support that.
Unheated Locations. If the generator sits outdoors through winter, the kit helps with cold starts.
Versus Buying Heaters Separately. This kit includes the battery, crankcase and breather heaters together for the 7 kW PowerPact.
Versus the Guardian Cold Weather Items. Generac sells separate battery, oil filter and breather heaters for Guardian Series units. Match the kit to your generator, and do not mix them up.
