Generac Installation Cart with its wide handle and wheels carrying an air-cooled Guardian Series generator

The Generac Installation Cart Lets One Person Move and Position an Air-Cooled Home Standby Generator

The Generac Installation Cart (model 005685-0, SKU 5685) is a portable cart for moving and positioning an air-cooled Generac home standby generator. It has large wheels and a wide handle. It attaches to the generator through its lifting holes, so you can raise the generator off the pallet and roll it into place.

It is for installers and homeowners who need to get a generator from the pallet to the pad without a crew. Generac notes that moving a 400 lb generator is hard work, and the cart lets a single person handle it.

Generac Installation Cart Features

Single-Person Moving and Positioning

Generac designed the cart so one person can move and orient a home standby generator. You use leverage to lift the unit off the pallet, then wheel it to the final spot.

Attaches at the Generator's Lifting Holes

The cart connects to the generator through its lifting holes, using the two lifting rods in the kit. Then you lift the unit off the pallet by leverage.

Large Wheels for Uneven Ground

Generac describes the cart as able to navigate uneven terrain. Two large wheels carry the load, and the wide handle gives you room to steer.

Quick-Release Pin Assembly

You assemble the cart yourself using quick-release pins, cotter pins and washers, all supplied.

Safety Guidance in the Manual

The owner's manual covers proper moving technique. Read it first.

Real-World Applications

New Installation Day. Roll a generator from the delivery spot to the pad, then set it down where the installer wants it.

Relocating a Unit. If you need to shift a generator to a new spot, the cart gives you a way to move it without extra helpers.

Uneven Yards. Large wheels help the cart cross rough ground on the way to the pad.

Practical Comparison

Versus Moving a Generator by Hand. Carrying or dragging a generator that weighs hundreds of pounds takes several people and risks damage to the unit. The cart lets one person do the move with leverage and wheels.

Versus Generac's Air Cooled Generator Transport Cart. We also carry a separate Generac cart sold as the Air Cooled Generator Transport Cart. This listing is the Generac Installation Cart, model 005685-0. Match the model number to the one you need.

Is the Installation Cart the Right Fit

  • Generator fit. Generac's sources describe it for air-cooled Generac home standby generators, including Guardian Series and Centurion units. Exact kW and model-year lists are not published.
  • Assembly. The cart arrives in parts and you assemble it with the supplied pins and hardware.
  • Use. It is a moving tool. Follow the safety instructions in the manual.

This May Be a Good Fit If

  • You are installing an air-cooled Generac home standby generator
  • You want to position the unit without a crew
  • Your generator has to cross uneven ground
  • You move generators more than once
