The Renogy CORE Series 12V 50Ah Deep Cycle Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery is a compact lithium battery for small solar systems, campers, boats and backup power. It stores 640Wh of energy, weighs 11.77 lbs and is rated for 3,500 cycles at 80% depth of discharge. Square Class A cells, a sealed IP65 case and an upgraded battery management system make it a durable choice for daily use.
The 50Ah size suits jobs where a 100Ah battery would be more than you need: trolling motors on small boats, ham radio stations, electric fence chargers, camping power and backup power for lights, a router or a small TV. When you need more, up to four batteries can be wired in series and four in parallel for a 48V, 10.24kWh bank.
At 7.8 x 6.5 x 6.7 inches and 11.77 lbs, the battery is a fraction of the size and weight of a lead-acid battery with similar usable energy. It fits in tight compartments and is easy to carry to a boat or campsite.
Renogy rates the battery for 3,500 cycles at 80% depth of discharge, with up to 5,000 cycles possible under lighter use. That is many years of regular cycling.
The BMS controls charging and discharging, balances the cells and protects against overcharge, over-discharge, overcurrent and short circuits. It also blocks charging below 32°F.
Prismatic Class A LiFePO4 cells pack more energy into less space and offer consistent capacity and cycle life.
An ABS and PC case with an IP65 rating resists dust and water spray, a useful feature on boats, in truck beds and around the farm.
Wire up to four batteries in series for 24V, 36V or 48V, and up to four strings in parallel, for a maximum of 10.24kWh. Renogy recommends 4S4P as the safe limit.
Trolling motors. Power a small trolling motor on a kayak, canoe or jon boat for a day of fishing.
Ham radio. Run a base or portable radio station during outages or field events.
Electric fences. Keep a solar-charged fence energizer running through cloudy stretches.
Camping and RV accessories. Power lights, fans, phones and laptops at camp.
Home and cabin backup. Keep a router, lights, radio or TV running during a power outage.
Versus a lead-acid battery. A lead-acid battery costs less up front but weighs much more, should only be drained about halfway and lasts a few hundred cycles. LiFePO4 gives you more usable energy and far longer life.
Versus a 12V 100Ah battery. A 100Ah battery stores twice the energy for larger loads and longer runtimes. The 50Ah size is lighter, smaller and costs less when your loads are modest.
Versus self-heating models. This battery does not include self-heating. If you need to charge below freezing, choose a self-heating Renogy battery.
This may be a good fit if
Yes. Wire four in series for 48V, then add up to three more strings in parallel for up to 10.24kWh. Use batteries of the same model.
No. The battery has no built-in Bluetooth or communication port. A battery monitor with a shunt can show state of charge.
No. The BMS blocks charging below 32°F to protect the cells. It can discharge down to -4°F.
It depends on the motor and speed setting. Divide 50Ah by the motor's current draw for a rough runtime in hours, keeping in mind that higher speeds draw much more current.
The Renogy CORE Series 12V 50Ah battery gives you long-lasting lithium power in a small, rugged case for boats, campsites, fences and backup systems. At Outbound Power, we help customers size batteries and choose the right charging setup. If you have questions, our team is happy to help.
