The Renogy Essential 800W 12V Off-Grid Solar Kit Pairs Four 200W N-Type Panels With a Rover 60A MPPT Controller

The Renogy Essential 800W 12V Off-Grid Solar Kit is a complete solar charging system for cabins, RVs, vans, homes and remote setups. It includes four Renogy 16BB N-type 200W panels, a Rover Li 60A MPPT charge controller with LCD display, a BT-2 Bluetooth module, Y branch connectors, an adaptor kit, battery tray cables, two in-line PV fuse holders, a 60A ANL fuse set, ring terminals and Z-bracket mounts, plus a step-by-step manual.

With 800W of panels, the kit can produce roughly 3.5 to 4kWh per day in good sun, enough to power essentials like a refrigerator, lights, a router and small appliances through a battery bank and inverter. The Rover handles 12V through 48V battery banks, so the system can grow with you.

Renogy Essential 800W Off-Grid Solar Kit Features

Four 16BB N-Type 200W Panels

N-type cells reach up to 25% cell efficiency with 16 busbars, producing more energy in partial shade, heat and low light. A durable aluminum alloy frame withstands bumps, vibration and rough roads, and the panels work in 12V and 24V systems.

Rover Li 60A MPPT Controller

The Rover auto-recognizes 12V, 24V, 36V and 48V battery banks, accepts up to 140V of solar input and supports up to 800W at 12V or 1,600W at 24V. A durable casing and rubber seal protect it from rust and contamination, and built-in protection secures the whole system.

BT-2 Bluetooth Monitoring

The included BT-2 module connects the Rover to the Renogy app for real-time monitoring and settings from your phone.

Fusing and Wiring Included

Two in-line PV fuse holders and a 60A ANL fuse set protect the array and battery, and the adaptor kit and tray cables connect panels, controller and battery.

Expandable DIY System

On a 12V battery the kit uses the Rover's full 800W capacity. Move to a 24V battery bank to expand up to 1,600W.

Real-World Applications

Off-grid cabins. Power a refrigerator, lights and a router for full weekends or seasonal stays.

RVs and vans. Keep a large lithium bank charged for extended boondocking.

Home backup. Recharge backup batteries during long outages.

Remote sites. Run pumps, cameras and equipment far from the grid.

How It Compares to Common Alternatives

Versus the 800W Premium kit. The Premium kit uses eight 100W panels that fit around roof obstacles. This kit uses four larger 200W panels for fewer mounts and connections.

Versus 400W and 600W kits. This kit produces more daily energy for larger loads and longer off-grid stays.

Versus generators. Solar runs silently and needs no fuel or regular maintenance.

Is This Kit the Right Fit

  • Battery. You will need a battery bank. The kit does not include batteries or an inverter.
  • Space. Four panels at 49.7 x 30.1 inches each need significant roof area or a ground mount.
  • Wiring. With 37.44V open circuit voltage per panel, plan series and parallel strings within the Rover's 140V input limit.
  • Expansion. A 24V battery bank lets the Rover handle up to 1,600W.

This may be a good fit if

  • You need about 3.5 to 4kWh of solar energy per day
  • You want a complete MPPT kit with Bluetooth and fusing
  • You prefer four large panels to many small ones
  • You may move to a 24V battery bank later

Common Questions

Can I Add More Panels?

On a 12V battery the 800W array is at the Rover's limit. With a 24V battery bank you can expand up to 1,600W.

Will This Kit Power My Air Conditioner?

Multiply the AC's watts by hours of use, divide by peak sun hours and add a 1.5 to 2 safety factor. Most air conditioners need a large battery bank and more solar than this kit alone.

Do I Need an Inverter?

Yes, to run household appliances from your batteries.
