The Renogy Monitoring Screen for DC-DC MPPT Battery Charger Series, model RMS-DCDC, is a flush-mount meter with a backlit LCD and four front buttons. It plugs into the RS485 port of a compatible Renogy DC-DC MPPT charger and shows your system's status on one screen.
It is for owners of a Renogy DC-DC MPPT charger in a 2-battery system, such as a vehicle with a starter battery and a house battery. Renogy lists the DCC30S (RBC30D1S) and DCC50S (RBC50D1S) as compatible models.
The screen shows the charging status of your house and starter batteries, with voltage, current, kilowatts, kilowatt-hours and temperature pages. Press page up or page down to move between them.
You can program charger settings, volts and amps from the screen. Choose a battery type of sealed, gel, flooded, lithium or user, and set the current limit in 10A steps. You can also clear the kilowatt-hour total and switch between °C and °F.
A system error icon lights up with a code when there is a fault, such as house battery over-discharge, alternator over-voltage or reversed polarity. The manual lists each code and the steps to clear it.
Connect the included RJ45 cable between the charger's RS485 port and the back of the screen. Renogy says the screen takes care of the rest. The manual says CAT5 or higher cable may also be used.
The faceplate sits flush with the mounting surface. You cut a 3.44 x 2.28 in opening, drill four pilot holes and fix the screen with the four included self-tapping screws.
Vehicle cabins. Renogy designed the meter for a clean, professional look inside vehicle cabins.
Alternator and solar charging. See whether the house battery is charging from solar, the alternator or both.
The charger has indicator lights for status. The screen adds numbers for voltage, current, kilowatts and temperature, error codes, and settings you can change.
The manual says the DC-DC chargers are suitable for 12V battery banks only. The screen should not be connected to other DC-DC chargers or systems.
Renogy recommends at least 2 in (50 mm) of clearance behind the unit for the bend of the RJ45 cable. The screen should not be exposed to direct sunlight, rain, snow, moisture or liquids. Check for wires or obstacles behind the surface before drilling.
Renogy lists the DCC30S (RBC30D1S) and DCC50S (RBC50D1S).
Renogy says to use the provided cable, or CAT5 or higher, and to press the connector firmly into both ports until it clicks. Power on the charger before connecting the cable.
Renogy lists a 1-year material and workmanship warranty.
The Renogy Monitoring Screen for DC-DC MPPT Battery Charger Series puts voltage, current and settings in front of you. If you want help matching it to your charger, the Outbound Power team is happy to help.
