The Rich Solar MEGA 250 ONYX 250 Watt 12V Solar Panel is a rigid 12V off-grid panel that delivers 250W from 64 half-cut N-Type TOPCon cells in a 60.6 x 29.9 x 1.2 inch frame. Rich Solar says it is about 10% smaller than a standard 10-busbar 250W panel, which makes it easier to fit on tight RV, van and trailer roofs.
The 16-busbar cells reach up to 25.1% efficiency under 3.2 mm AR-coated tempered glass. The panel weighs 26.9 pounds, carries UL 61730, IEC 61215 and CSA C22.2 certifications, and comes with pre-attached 12 AWG leads, MC4 connectors and an IP68 junction box.
Grade A+ N-Type TOPCon cells reach up to 25.1% cell efficiency. Rich Solar notes that N-Type TOPCon technology offers lower degradation and a longer lifespan, and the 0 to +5W power tolerance means each panel delivers at least its rated 250W at standard test conditions.
The half-cut, 16-busbar layout reduces power loss and minimizes hotspots. Bypass diodes help the panel keep producing steady power when part of it is shaded by a roof vent, rack or tree branch.
The cells, busbars and AR-coated glass work together to capture more light on cloudy days and at dawn and dusk, so the panel keeps charging when conditions are less than ideal.
The panel is rated for 2,400 Pa wind loads and 5,400 Pa snow loads, and Rich Solar rates it against hail up to 35 mm at 97 km/h. A reinforced 1.3 mm anodized aluminum frame resists corrosion, and the IP68 junction box and IP67 connectors keep out dust and water.
Each panel goes through 30+ mechanical and electrical tests, including PID resistance and 100% EL inspection to help prevent microcracks. Rich Solar also tests for UV exposure, thermal cycling and humidity freeze.
Fourteen pre-drilled mounting holes fit Z brackets, tilt mounts, pole mounts and ground mounts. MC4 connectors on the pre-attached leads plug straight into other panels or a charge controller, and the panel works with both on-grid and off-grid inverters.
