The SunGold Power 13kW 48VDC Off-Grid Solar Kit is SunGold's SGR-13K25S system. It pairs two 6500W split phase inverters with twenty 450W bifacial N-type panels and five 5.12kWh server rack LiFePO4 batteries in an enclosed cabinet. Breakers, battery cables, PV extension cables and Z-brackets are included.
Compared with SunGold's four-battery version of this kit, it adds six panels and a fifth battery while keeping the same inverters. That makes it a good match for off-grid households with heavier daily use, such as air conditioning, a well pump, a refrigerator and a home office.
SunGold's wiring diagram connects the twenty panels as two strings of ten in series. Each string passes through a 25A PV breaker into one MPPT input, rated for up to 5000W and 550Vdc open circuit. Fewer, longer strings keep the PV wiring simple, with one 50-foot cable set per inverter.
The five SG48100P batteries are 51.2V 100Ah lithium iron phosphate modules of 5.12kWh each. Each battery supports up to 100A continuous charge and discharge, at least 7000 cycles and a 15-year design life. The enclosed cabinet holds all five, and SunGold lists UL1973, UL9540A, CE and UN38.3 for the batteries.
Each panel produces 450W from the front at 22.5% module efficiency. SunGold says the rear side can add up to an additional 30% energy where reflected light reaches it. The dual glass modules are certified for 5400 Pa snow loads and 2400 Pa wind loads.
Each inverter delivers 6500W of pure sine wave power at 120/240Vac with a 13,000VA peak. The pair supplies 13000W in total, and a typical 10ms switch time keeps loads running when the power source changes.
The inverters offer four charging modes and four output modes, so you can set solar, utility or battery priority. A utility or generator can charge the batteries at up to 80A per inverter, and the time-slot function schedules charging and discharging around peak and off-peak rates.
Up to six identical inverters can run in parallel, and the batteries support up to 63 units in parallel. SunGold notes that you can add batteries and panels to suit your needs.
Larger off-grid households. Five batteries give more evening and overnight storage for a busy home.
Air conditioning and well pumps. Run 240V appliances from split phase output, with a 13,000VA peak per inverter for motor starts.
Remote workshops and offices. Power tools, computers and lighting at a property without a utility connection.
Generator-backed sites. Use a generator to recharge the bank during extended cloudy weather.
Versus SunGold's four-battery version. The SGR-13KM uses fourteen panels and four batteries. This kit adds six panels and one battery with the same inverters, breakers and cables.
Versus single-sided panels. Standard panels only collect light on the front. Bifacial panels can add rear-side output where the back of the array is exposed.
