The SunGold Power 5kW 48VDC Off-Grid Solar Kit (SGM-5K5E) is SunGold's starter package for a 48V off-grid system. It pairs a 5000W pure sine wave solar inverter, the Wi-Fi model, with six 200W monocrystalline panels and one 51.2V 100Ah wall-mounted LiFePO4 battery that stores 5.12kWh.
It is meant for people who want to start with a modest array and one battery, then build out. The inverter accepts far more solar than the kit includes, the battery is designed to expand in parallel, and up to six identical inverters can be paralleled when you need more output.
The inverter is rated for 5000W continuous with a 10000VA peak and a loaded motor capacity of 4HP. Output is 120VAC, which covers household and office loads such as refrigerators, computers, televisions and ovens.
The built-in MPPT charger accepts up to 5500W of PV at up to 500V open circuit, with a 120-450VDC MPPT range. The kit's 1200W array uses a small share of that, so adding panels later does not mean replacing the inverter.
The SG48100M battery is a 51.2V 100Ah LiFePO4 unit rated for 7000 cycles and a calendar life of 15 years or more. Its BMS monitors cell voltage, current and temperature and protects against overcharge, deep discharge, overloading, overheating and short circuit.
Up to six identical inverters can be paralleled for 120VAC single phase, 240VAC split phase or 208V three phase output. The battery side scales too, with up to 63 SG48100M units in parallel.
The kit uses the Wi-Fi model of the inverter, so you can follow the system's performance and energy data in an app instead of walking to the inverter.
Four charging modes (AC Priority, Solar Priority, Only Solar and Mains and Solar hybrid) and four output modes let you set how solar, battery and grid or generator power are used. The AC charger adds up to 40A, and transfer takes 10ms.
The inverter is UL1741 Listed by ETL, and the battery is certified to UL1973.
