The SunGold Power 5kW 48VDC Off-Grid Solar Kit Pairs 2700W of Bifacial N-Type Solar With 10.24kWh of Server Rack Storage

The SunGold Power 5kW 48VDC Off-Grid Solar Kit (SGR-5KE) combines a 5000W 48V solar inverter, the Wi-Fi model, with six 450W bifacial N-type monocrystalline panels and two 51.2V 100Ah server rack LiFePO4 batteries. SunGold estimates the array produces around 10kWh per day based on 4 hours of sun.

It is aimed at off-grid homes and cabins that run on 120V and want their storage in a rack-mount format. The batteries carry UL1973 and UL9540A listings, and the kit includes the breakers, cabling and Z-brackets to connect the array and battery bank.

SunGold Power 5kW 48VDC Off-Grid Solar Kit Features

Bifacial N-Type Panels

Each 450W panel captures sunlight on both faces. SunGold says the rear side can harvest up to an additional 30% energy from reflected light, and the front side reaches 22.5% module efficiency. The dual glass build is rated for 5400Pa front and 2400Pa rear loads.

Two Server Rack Batteries, 10.24kWh in Total

The SG48100P batteries are 3U rack-mount units at 51.2V 100Ah, 5.12kWh each. Each is rated for 7000 cycles with a 15-year design life, and an LCD shows battery data.

5000W Inverter With 100A MPPT

The inverter supplies 5000W of 120V pure sine wave power with a 10000VA peak and a 4HP loaded motor capacity. Its MPPT charger takes up to 5500W of solar at up to 500V open circuit.

Battery Communication and Expansion

The batteries support CAN, RS485 and RS232 communication, and the inverter's RS485 port is used for BMS communication. Up to 63 batteries can run in parallel when you need more storage.

Solar Harvest Tracking by App

The Wi-Fi model inverter shows the system's performance and energy data in an app, so you can track solar harvest from your phone.

Listed Components

The inverter is UL1741 Listed by ETL. The batteries carry UL1973, UL9540A, CE and UN38.3, and the panels carry UL61730, CE and TUV.

Real-World Applications

Off-grid homes with a utility room. Mount the rack batteries indoors and run 120V household loads from around 10kWh of daily solar.

Ground-mount and flat-roof arrays. Bifacial panels suit installs where the back of the array is exposed to reflected light, such as ground brackets, flat roofs, vertical surfaces and poles.

Snowy sites. SunGold notes the dual-sided design captures reflected light and helps shed snow.

Generator-assisted cabins. The 40A AC charger can refill the bank from a generator when sun is short.

How It Compares to Common Alternatives

Versus conventional single-sided panels. Bifacial modules can gather extra energy from the rear side. The gain depends on how much reflected light reaches the back of the panels.

Versus wall-mounted batteries. These are server rack batteries in a 3U format. They suit a rack or cabinet, which is not part of this kit.

Versus 240V-capable setups. One inverter here gives 120V. Paralleling identical units adds 240V split phase output.

Is This Solar Kit the Right Fit

  • Battery rack. The kit does not include a rack or cabinet for the two 3U batteries. Each measures 442 x 460 x 133mm.
  • Battery location. The battery box is rated IP20, so plan a dry, protected space.
  • Panel mounting. The bifacial gain depends on the rear of the panels seeing reflected light.
  • AC output. One inverter supplies 120VAC.
  • Solar input. Keep the array within the 120-450VDC MPPT range and below 500V open circuit.

This may be a good fit if

  • You want bifacial panels on a ground or flat-roof mount
  • You prefer rack-mount batteries
  • You run 120V loads at home or a cabin
  • You want UL9540A-listed batteries

Common Questions

How Much Energy Does the Array Produce?

SunGold estimates around 10kWh per day based on 4 hours of sun. Your output will depend on your local sun hours and mounting.

Where Do Bifacial Panels Work Well?

They fit flat roofs, ground brackets, vertical surfaces and poles, and suit sites where the backside of the array is exposed to reflected light.

Can I Add More Batteries?

Yes. The SG48100P supports up to 63 batteries in parallel. SunGold advises against mixing new and old batteries, so ask us about matching before you expand.

Can I Add More Solar Panels?

Yes. The inverter accepts up to 5500W of PV input, and the kit's array is 2700W.
