Take control of your energy future with our comprehensive Off-Grid Solar Power Systems collection. These advanced off grid power systems for homes provide reliable, sustainable electricity regardless of utility availability or grid conditions. Our carefully curated selection combines cutting-edge solar panels, high-capacity battery storage, efficient inverters, and smart energy management systems—all engineered to work seamlessly together.
These off grid power systems for are designed for versatility and performance, whether you're powering a remote cabin, a remote tiny home, establishing energy independence for your primary residence, or preparing for extended power outages. Each component is selected for durability, efficiency, and compatibility, ensuring your system delivers consistent power year after year. Experience the confidence that comes from generating and managing your own electricity while reducing or eliminating monthly utility bills completely.
An off-grid solar power system generates and stores its own electricity without relying on the utility grid. Solar panels generate DC electricity, a charge controller manages battery charging, batteries store energy for later use, and an inverter converts DC electricity into AC power for household appliances. Because there is no utility grid to fall back on, proper solar, battery, and inverter sizing is especially important for reliable year-round operation.
An off-grid system typically combines solar panels, battery storage, an inverter or inverter/charger, and a solar charge controller. Depending on the package, it may also include cables, breakers, mounting equipment, monitoring devices, and other installation components. What's included varies between systems, so it's important to check the individual product package rather than assuming every kit contains everything required for installation.
Yes, a properly designed system can power an entire home, but the size required depends heavily on the home's energy consumption. High-demand appliances such as central air conditioners, electric water heaters, dryers, ranges, and well pumps can significantly increase inverter, battery, and solar requirements. For whole-home off-grid power, both everyday energy consumption and short periods of high simultaneous demand need to be considered.
Start by listing the appliances and equipment you plan to run, their wattage, and how many hours they're typically used each day. This establishes your daily energy requirement in watt-hours (Wh) or kilowatt-hours (kWh). From there, the inverter should be sized for simultaneous and startup loads, the batteries for your desired runtime, and the solar array for replenishing the energy you consume. Actual energy usage is much more useful for sizing than home square footage alone.
Battery capacity depends on how much electricity you use each day and how long you want the system to operate without sufficient solar production. For example, designing for overnight use requires less storage than designing for multiple cloudy days. You should also account for usable battery capacity, inverter and system losses, temperature, battery discharge limits, and whether a generator or another backup charging source will be available.
Your solar array should generate enough energy to cover your normal consumption and replenish energy taken from the batteries. Real-world production depends on peak sun hours, season, weather, shading, panel orientation, temperature, and system losses, so the panel wattage alone doesn't tell you how much energy you'll produce each day. Off-grid systems are generally designed around expected daily energy production during the conditions in which they'll actually be used.
These numbers describe the nominal DC voltage of the battery system, not necessarily the AC voltage supplied to your appliances. Smaller 12V systems are commonly suited to lighter power requirements, while 24V and 48V architectures are often more practical as system power increases. At higher battery voltages, the same amount of power can be transferred at lower current, which can help reduce conductor size requirements and electrical losses when the system is properly designed.
Many systems can be expanded, but you should plan for expansion before purchasing whenever possible. Inverters, charge controllers, batteries, and other components have specific voltage, current, capacity, and communication limits that determine what can be added later. Choosing equipment with sufficient expansion capability from the beginning can make it easier to add solar panels or battery storage without replacing major system components.
Solar panels can continue producing electricity in cloudy conditions, but output may be substantially lower than on a clear day. When solar production isn't enough to meet your loads, the system relies more heavily on stored battery energy. This is why off-grid systems often include enough battery capacity for periods of reduced production, and some installations incorporate a compatible generator or another charging source for extended periods of poor weather.
Start with your daily energy consumption, highest simultaneous load, large appliances with startup surges, desired battery runtime, available solar space, and local solar conditions. You should also consider whether you'll have a generator for backup and whether you expect your power needs to increase later. Avoid choosing a system based only on inverter wattage or the number of solar panels, since battery capacity and overall system compatibility are equally important. Exactly what I was looking for in terms of ease of use, runtime, features, etc. Outbound Power were very easy to work with
The second battery is a game changer. I bought the Anker Everfrost 2 for two reasons.
First to have a second fridge for the second floor of my house for things I might want late at night.
Second as part of my preparing for emergencies which given all the news about Super El Nino may have been a better idea than I knew.
I haven't deployed the solar panel yet but I'm glad I bought it in case I have to extend the life of the Everfrost 2 batteries in an outage.
I ordered the Anker Solix c 1000 GE 2
When it arrived, I charged it for about one hour to 100%
I used it for roughly 4 days building shelves in a 10 x 12 shed using a miter saw, circular saw and it charged two batteries for the impact drill and it’s still at 57% very impressive so far
Worked well on trail, had warm lunch for 10 people (fried chicken prepared day before).
The unit works great as a desktop UPS. Thanks OP for the excellent price and quick delivery!
Hi Stephen, we're thrilled to hear you're satisfied with the Anker SOLIX S2000! Thanks for sharing your experience and for choosing Outbound Power. Enjoy your new power station!
I have several solar systems. I use this one in my greenhouse. I don't have to worry about moisture. I have 3, 300N watt bifacial solar panels and have overpowered it. Even on cloudy days I get 600 watts per hour. It is better than my home solar system. Therefore, I purchased a second one to assist in charging my home batteries and am hopeful that I am close to having an off grid solution for my small cabin. I highly recommend this unit.
Hi Jason, thank you for sharing such a detailed review! We're glad to hear the Arkpax Ark Pro is working so well for your greenhouse and off-grid setup. It's great to know you've added a second unit to support your home battery system. We truly appreciate your recommendation and are happy to be part of your journey toward off-grid living. If you ever need assistance, we're always here to help!
I would recommend Outbound Power to anyone looking at purchasing solar products. There help and quick response is exceptional. Also, the price was right and, in some cases, very competitive.
