The AIMS Power Solar Array Combiner Box Brings Your PV Strings Together in One Pre-Wired, Weatherproof Enclosure

The AIMS Power Solar Array Combiner Box provides a convenient solution for large PV solar array installations. It serves as a central location for multiple solar inputs to a single output, combining all wires in one place for simpler installation and maintenance. Choose the 60A model with 3 string inputs and 6 kW of output, or the 120A model with 6 string inputs and 12 kW of output. The pre-wired box is rated for up to 1000 VOC input, uses MC4 input and output connectors and is housed in a NEMA 3R, IP65 rated case for off-grid and grid tied systems.

AIMS Power Solar Array Combiner Box Features

Pre-Wired With MC4 Connections

The box arrives pre-wired, and MC4 input and output connectors eliminate the need to hardwire, giving you a quick plug and use solution.

3 or 6 String Inputs

The 60A model accepts 3 DC string inputs and the 120A model accepts 6. AIMS Power lists a maximum input current of 30 amps, with maximum output current of 63 amps on the 60A model and 125 amps on the 120A model.

Built-In 125A Resettable Output Breaker

AIMS Power notes the combiner box eliminates the need for extra equipment such as output breakers, branch connectors and disconnect switches.

Diode and Lightning Protection

The combiner box is diode protected and lightning protected, with a touch safe fuse holder and waterproof PG9 DC output and ground protection.

NEMA 3R and IP65 Rated Case

A NEMA 3R, IP65 rated enclosure with tamper proof locks protects the connections, and the design provides optimal cooling. It operates from -13°F to 104°F and at altitudes up to 6,560 feet without derating.

Flexible Mounting

Mount the box on a support bracket, plinth or racking system. AIMS Power lists 2 DC outputs per polarity.

10 Year Warranty

AIMS Power backs this combiner box with a 10 year warranty.

Real-World Applications

Off-grid solar systems. Combine multiple panel strings before they run to your charge controller or inverter.

Grid tied arrays. Bring several strings together in one weatherproof enclosure near the array.

Larger or high current arrays. AIMS Power describes the box as ideal for larger solar arrays and high current systems, where managing many separate wires gets complicated.

How It Compares to Common Alternatives

Versus combining strings with separate components. Building your own combining point means sourcing branch connectors, breakers and a disconnect separately. This box brings those functions together in a pre-wired enclosure.

Versus hardwired combiner boxes. MC4 input and output connections let you plug strings in rather than terminating each conductor by hand.

60A model versus 120A model. The 60A model combines 3 strings for up to 6 kW, while the 120A model combines 6 strings for up to 12 kW. The 120A model is larger and heavier, at 35 pounds versus 23.5 pounds.

Is This Combiner Box the Right Fit

  • String voltage. Maximum input is 1000 VOC. Confirm your string open circuit voltage stays below this rating in cold weather.
  • Current. Maximum input current is 30 amps. Check your string short circuit current against this rating.
  • Size and weight. The 60A model measures 14 5/8" wide, 17 3/8" long and 7 5/8" high and weighs 23.5 pounds. The 120A model measures 20 3/8" wide with brackets (18 3/8" without), 17 3/8" long including connectors and 7 5/8" high and weighs 35 pounds.
  • Installation. Solar combiner wiring should follow local electrical codes. Use a qualified installer if you are unsure.

This may be a good fit if

  • Your array has 3 or 6 strings to combine
  • You want MC4 plug and use connections instead of hardwiring
  • You need a weatherproof NEMA 3R, IP65 enclosure near the array
  • You want a resettable output breaker built in
