The BLUETTI B1232 LiFePO4 Battery Packs 4,019.2 Wh Into One 12.8V Unit You Can Build Into a 12V, 24V or 48V Bank
The BLUETTI B1232 LiFePO4 Battery is a 12.8V, 314Ah lithium iron phosphate battery that stores 4,019.2 Wh. It has a battery management system (BMS), built-in self-heating, an IP65 rated case and Bluetooth for the BLUETTI app.
BLUETTI designed it for RV non-driving systems, marine non-propulsion systems and home energy setups. It's an energy storage battery, not a starting battery. Use one in a 12V system, or connect up to 4 in series for 24V or 48V and up to 24 in parallel.
BLUETTI B1232 LiFePO4 Battery Features
314Ah at 12.8V in One Battery
Each B1232 holds 314Ah at a nominal 12.8V, or 4,019.2 Wh. Its operating voltage runs from 10V to 14.6V, so it fits 12V inverters, DC-DC chargers, charge controllers and DC panels.
140A Continuous Discharge With a 310A Peak
The B1232 delivers up to 140A continuously and handles a 310A peak for 8 seconds. BLUETTI recommends 70A for charging, with a 140A maximum. Use them to size your inverter, cables and fuse.
Self-Heating for Cold Weather
Built-in self-heating keeps the B1232 operating in temperatures as low as -4°F (-20°C). It discharges from -4°F to 131°F (-20°C to 55°C). The standard charging range is 32°F to 131°F (0°C to 55°C), and it extends down to -4°F (-20°C) with a charger connected and charging current above 1A.
BMS Protection at Every Stage
The BMS protects against overcharging, short circuits and abnormal temperatures. It stops charging at 14.6V and recovers at 13.6V, stops discharging at 10.2V and recovers at 11.2V, and trips its short-circuit protection at 480A.
6,000 Cycles to 70% Capacity
BLUETTI rates the B1232 for 6,000 cycles while it keeps 70% of its capacity, at a 0.4C charge and discharge rate at 77°F (25°C). That suits systems you cycle every day.
IP65 Case With Covered Terminals
The case carries an IP65 rating, and the included terminal covers fit over the cable connections. A safety vent balances pressure as the battery warms, and side handles help with lifting. Keep the battery dry and don't use it in water.
Bluetooth App and Linked Batteries
Connect to the BLUETTI app over Bluetooth to check the remaining state of charge and update the battery. LINK IN and LINK OUT communication ports beside the terminals, joined with the included Ethernet cable, let batteries in a bank talk to each other.
Real-World Applications
RV house power. A single B1232 gives a 12V RV non-driving system 314Ah for your inverter and DC panel.
Marine house systems. On a boat, use it for non-propulsion systems. Install it in a dry, stable spot away from salty, moist air.
24V and 48V systems. Two in series make a 25.6V, 314Ah bank with 8,038.4 Wh, and four in series make a 51.2V, 314Ah bank with 16,076.8 Wh.
Home energy storage. Combine series and parallel connections for larger banks. An 8P4S bank, for example, gives you 51.2V, 2,512Ah and 128,614.4 Wh.
Practical Comparison
B1232 Versus a 12V Lead-Acid Battery
Lead-acid batteries are a common 12V choice, but they don't report their state of charge over Bluetooth or heat themselves in the cold. The B1232 combines LiFePO4 cells, a BMS, self-heating, an IP65 case and a 6,000 cycle rating.
One B1232 Versus a Series or Parallel Bank
One B1232 covers a 12V system with 314Ah. Parallel connections keep 12.8V and add amp-hours, up to 24 batteries, with Edock battery communication interface boxes needed above 8. Series connections raise the voltage, up to 4 batteries for a 48V system. Series-parallel banks use one Edock box as the master for every 8 parallel or 4 series-connected batteries.
Buyer Guidance
Installation and Wiring
BLUETTI recommends battery connection cable larger than 4 AWG (20 mm²) with M8 OT terminals. You'll need a 14mm (9/16") wrench, a screwdriver, a multimeter and protective gloves. Place the battery upright with the terminals facing up in a clean, dry and well-ventilated area, and don't put washers between the terminal bolts and the cable lugs, since that can cause high resistance and overheating. The included brackets fix the battery in place, and at about 64.59 lbs it should be moved with a forklift or trolley.
Building a Bank
Before you connect batteries in series or parallel, fully charge each one, check that their voltages are within 0.2V of each other, then connect them in parallel and let them rest together for 12 to 24 hours. Repeat this every 6 months, and use batteries of the same brand, specification and capacity, and don't mix new and used batteries. Third-party devices need an Edock battery communication interface box, which is sold separately.
This May Be A Good Fit If
- You're building a 12V RV or marine house system
- You want room to grow to a 24V or 48V bank
- You need a battery that operates down to -4°F
- You want to check your state of charge in an app
Common Questions
Can I Charge the B1232 Below Freezing?
Yes, with a charger connected. The standard charging range is 32°F to 131°F (0°C to 55°C), and with a charger connected and charging current above 1A it extends to -4°F (-20°C). Don't charge when the cell temperature itself is below 32°F (0°C), since that can cause irreversible damage. The BMS stops charging when the cells drop below 30°F (-1°C).
How Many B1232 Batteries Can I Connect?
Up to 4 in series for a 48V system and up to 24 in parallel. Parallel setups with more than 8 batteries need Edock battery communication interface boxes.
How Do I Check the State of Charge?
Use the BLUETTI app over Bluetooth, or measure the resting voltage after 30 minutes with no charging or discharging. A resting voltage of 13.44V means about 100%, 13.23V about 50%, 12.89V about 10% and 11.57V empty.
Can I Use It as a Starting Battery?
No. The B1232 is for energy storage only. Don't use it as a starting battery or as the power battery for an electric vehicle.
How Should I Store the B1232?
Charge it above 60% before storage and run a full cycle every 6 months. Store it in a dry place at -4°F to 104°F (-20°C to 40°C) for up to 1 month, -4°F to 95°F (-20°C to 35°C) for 1 to 3 months, or -4°F to 77°F (-20°C to 25°C) for longer periods.
