The BougeRV 12V 30 Quart (28L) Portable Car Fridge White is a compressor fridge freezer from BougeRV's CR series. It holds 30 quarts (28 liters, 0.99 cu. ft.), sets anywhere from -8°F to 50°F, and runs from 12V or 24V DC or from AC power with the included adapter. The white body has a gray band across the front with the BougeRV logo.
It's made for road trips, car camping, overlanding and long days in a truck cab. If you're tired of buying ice and draining melt water, this fridge holds the temperature you set with a compressor. A three-level battery monitor shuts it off before it pulls your vehicle battery too low.
In MAX mode with an empty cabinet, BougeRV rates the fridge to cool from 77°F to 32°F in 15 minutes and from 77°F to -4°F in 50 minutes. Cold space is ready soon after you switch it on, so you can load up and get moving.
MAX mode is rated at 60W for fast cooling. ECO mode is rated at 45W to save energy. BougeRV states the fridge uses less than 1 kWh per day in either mode, because the compressor cycles off once the cabinet reaches your set temperature.
Choose High, Medium or Low protection on the control panel. On a 12V system the fridge turns off at 11.3V, 10.1V or 8.5V, and on 24V at 24.6V, 22.3V or 21.3V. It restarts two minutes after the voltage climbs back to the cut-in level. The fridge ships set to Medium, and BougeRV recommends Medium when you run it from a vehicle starter battery.
BougeRV rates the noise at 45 dB or less. The fridge is designed so it won't disturb you while you drive or sleep, which matters in a camper, a van or a truck sleeper.
A removable divider splits the cabinet so drinks sit on one side and food on the other. The digital panel shows the temperature, input voltage, battery protection level and MAX or ECO mode, and it switches between °F and °C. The panel locks after one minute without use, and you unlock it by holding the settings button for three seconds.
Plug the 12V/24V DC cord into a car, truck or power station, or use the AC adapter at a home outlet or a power station's AC outlet. Both cords come in the box. Power-off memory brings the fridge back with your last settings after a power interruption.
Car camping. Keep drinks cold and food fresh at the campsite without the mess of melted ice in a cooler.
Overlanding. Set the battery protection to match your setup and let the fridge run quietly overnight while you sleep.
Long-haul trucking. The fridge takes 24V DC as well as 12V, so it fits trucks with either system and keeps meals and drinks within reach on long shifts.
Road trips. Set it in the cargo area of an SUV, van or Jeep and plug it into the DC socket for cold snacks between stops.
Extra space at home. Use the AC adapter to run it as an overflow fridge or freezer for holidays and gatherings.
An ice cooler needs fresh ice and leaves you with melt water to drain. This fridge holds a set temperature with a compressor, and its -8°F to 50°F range lets it work as a freezer as well as a fridge. The trade-off is that it needs a steady power source.
Fridge Only suits you if you'll run it from a vehicle, a power station or a wall outlet. Fridge + Battery adds a BougeRV battery so the fridge isn't tied to your vehicle. BougeRV doesn't publish a runtime for this pairing, so ask our team before you plan around a set number of hours.
Fridge + Cover adds a black BougeRV fridge cover. As pictured, it has a buckled front pocket and mesh side pockets for small items.
Leave at least 7.9 in of space behind the fridge and 3.9 in at the sides so the vents can release heat. Keep it level while it runs, with less than 5° of tilt for long-term use and less than 45° for short periods. Keep it out of the rain and away from heaters, stoves and direct sunlight. BougeRV lists an outside temperature range of 50°F to 122°F for use.
Use Medium battery protection on a starter battery. BougeRV also advises turning the fridge off or unplugging it when you shut the engine off, so it doesn't drain your car battery. The fridge can't be connected straight to a solar panel.
BougeRV says to let the fridge sit flat, lid on top, for 12 hours before you power it on. Clean the inside and outside with a damp cloth and let it dry first.
