The BougeRV 200W Portable Solar Panel is a four-section folding panel with N-Type solar cells rated at 25% efficiency. It has a fiberglass surface, an IP65 dust and water resistance rating, two carry handles and a rear stand that props it up toward the sun. Folded, it measures 23.6 x 22.9 x 1.8 in and weighs 13.8 lbs.
BougeRV designed it for charging car refrigerator batteries and portable power stations at camp, on the trail, in the backyard and during outages. It comes with a 1.6 ft solar charging cable that ends in XT60 and DC7909 plugs, so it connects to BougeRV's fridge batteries with the cable in the box.
The panel uses N-Type solar cells with a 16 busbar (16BB) cell design, and BougeRV rates the cells at 25% conversion efficiency. That helps you collect more energy from the same folded pack size.
A fiberglass surface shields the cells, and BougeRV describes the panel as durable and impact-resistant for outdoor use. BougeRV's photos show it set up on sand, gravel and grass.
The panel carries an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance, which BougeRV calls outdoor ready. When you're done, fold it and store it in a dry place.
The included solar charging cable joins the panel's MC4 solar connectors to an XT60 plug and a DC7909 plug. BougeRV's manual pairs the XT60 plug with its B240/272Wh battery and the DC7909 plug with its 277Wh battery. With the panel's main cable, you get about 8.2 ft of reach (6.6 ft main cable plus the 1.6 ft adapter cable), so the fridge can sit in the shade while the panel sits in the sun.
The four sections fold into a 23.6 x 22.9 in package that is 1.8 in thick, with a handle on top for carrying. A zippered storage bag on the back holds the output cable. Setup needs no tools. Unfold the rear stand, open the panel and angle it toward the sun.
BougeRV lists an operating range of 14°F to 149°F. The temperature coefficient for maximum power is -0.35%/K, for open circuit voltage -0.3%/K and for short circuit current +0.048%/K.
Car fridge camping. Keep a BougeRV fridge battery charged during a multi-day trip while the panel sits in the sun and the fridge stays in the shade.
Power station charging. Feed a portable power station that has a compatible solar input, then run lights, phones and small devices from it.
Backyard and outages. Set the panel up in the yard to recharge a battery or power station during a power outage.
RV and road trips. Carry it by the handle from the RV to a sunny spot and fold it back up when you move on.
A rigid panel is mounted in one spot and stays there. This portable panel folds, stands on its own rear stand and moves with you, so you can chase the sun through the day and park your vehicle in the shade.
Charging a fridge battery from your vehicle means driving or running the engine. With this panel, you can recharge the battery from sunlight while you stay parked at camp.
BougeRV says the panel can charge power stations from other brands if they are compatible with the MC4 connector standard. Make sure the device supports solar input and that its input limits match the panel's 21V open circuit voltage and 12.22A short circuit current. Your power station will only accept power up to its own maximum PV input.
You can connect several panels of the same model, power and specifications in series or parallel, then connect them to a power storage system or solar charge controller to build an off-grid system. BougeRV does not recommend mixing its 100W and 200W portable panels in series or parallel, because their currents differ. Max system voltage is 600V DC.
Usually not. BougeRV notes that light intensity, panel temperature, sun angle and shading all reduce output. Under clear skies and direct sunlight, the panel can typically produce over 80% of its rated power.
BougeRV suggests using the rear stand before 10 a.m. or after 2 p.m. At noon, lay the panel flat on the ground facing the sun directly.
BougeRV designed this panel to charge car refrigerator batteries. Connect it to a BougeRV fridge battery or a power station, and power the fridge from that battery.
Fold the panel back to its original position and store it in a dry place. Avoid dropping, piercing, bending or stepping on it.
The BougeRV 200W Portable Solar Panel pairs 25% efficient N-Type cells with a fiberglass surface, IP65 protection and XT60 and DC7909 plugs in a panel that folds to 23.6 x 22.9 in. If you'd like help matching it to your fridge battery or power station, the Outbound Power team is happy to help.
