The BougeRV CRS 42QT 12 Volt Portable Car Fridge With Wheels is the wheeled version of BougeRV's single-zone CRS 42QT compressor fridge. It holds 42.1 quarts (40 liters, 1.41 cu. ft.), which BougeRV says fits 58 cans, and it sets anywhere from -4°F to 68°F. Two wheels and a pull handle let you roll it instead of carrying it.
It's made for RV trips, car camping, trucks and SUVs, where a fridge often has to travel from the vehicle to the campsite and back. It runs on 12V or 24V DC or on 100-240V AC with the included adapter, and you can adjust it from the control panel or from your phone.
At 36.2 lb before you load it, this fridge is easier to roll than to carry. The pull handle folds out at one end and the wheels sit at the other, so you can tow it across a campsite or a parking lot.
Set the temperature with the plus and minus buttons, or hold a button to scroll faster. Go below 0°F to keep ice cream frozen, below 32°F to make ice, or into the 30s and 40s for drinks and fresh food.
With an empty cabinet in MAX mode, BougeRV rates the compressor to cool from 77°F to 32°F in 15 minutes and from 77°F to -4°F in 50 minutes. ECO mode, listed by BougeRV at 45W, focuses on energy savings, and the rated power input is 60W.
BougeRV's app lets you adjust the temperature and monitor the fridge from your smartphone, with a control range BougeRV lists as 32 ft. The control panel display also has an app mode icon.
The lid can be switched to open from either side, so you can reach in from the side that suits your vehicle. A removable wire basket comes in the box, and the cabinet has a drain hole.
The battery monitor turns the fridge off when supply voltage falls to the level you set. On 12V, High, Medium and Low cut out at 11.1V, 10.4V and 9.6V. On 24V, they cut out at 24.3V, 22.8V and 21.3V. The fridge restarts two minutes after the voltage reaches the cut-in level.
Car camping. Roll the fridge from the car to the picnic table and keep food and drinks cold all weekend without ice.
RV and van trips. Run it from the 12V or 24V system on the road, then switch to the AC adapter at a campsite with hookups.
Tailgating. Wheel 58 cans' worth of drinks from the parking spot to your setup.
Off-grid weekends. Choose the Fridge + Battery package to run the fridge away from your vehicle.
A rolling ice cooler still needs fresh ice and leaves melt water behind. The CRS 42QT holds the temperature you set with a compressor and can work as a freezer, as long as it has DC, AC or battery power.
Fridge Only suits you if you'll run it from your vehicle, a power station or an outlet. Fridge + Battery adds a BougeRV battery for use away from the vehicle. BougeRV doesn't publish a runtime for this pair, so ask our team before you plan a trip around it.
The wheeled fridge measures 28.0 x 19.6 x 17.1 in, and the cabinet is 20.1 x 12.6 x 12.2 in inside. Leave at least 7.9 in of space behind it and 3.9 in at the sides for ventilation. Keep it under 5° of tilt for long-term running and under 45° for short periods, and keep it out of the rain.
Let the fridge sit flat with the lid on top for 12 hours before you first power it on. BougeRV recommends High battery protection when you run it from a vehicle starter battery or from an added battery such as a power station. Turn it off or unplug it when you shut the engine off. BougeRV also lists a 12-50V solar input, so check with our team about connecting a panel before you rely on it.
Open the lid to 60 degrees, slide it out along its track, turn it around and slide it back in at the same 60-degree angle. It works the same with or without wheels.
Hold the settings button for 2 seconds. Press it again to move between MAX/ECO mode, battery protection and °F/°C, use plus or minus to choose, and wait 5 seconds to confirm.
No. The fridge contains refrigerant, and running it on its side can affect cooling and cause malfunctions.
E1 means the battery voltage is low. Check the battery voltage and switch to the Low cut-off level if needed.
BougeRV lists a 2-year warranty for this fridge.
The Fridge + Battery option adds a BougeRV battery.
The BougeRV CRS 42QT 12 Volt Portable Car Fridge With Wheels gives you 40 liters of fridge or freezer space, a -4°F to 68°F range, app control, a reversible lid and wheels with a pull handle, on 12V, 24V or AC power. If you'd like help choosing between the wheeled and wheelless versions or sizing a battery, the Outbound Power team is happy to help.
