The BougeRV CRX3 30QT is a single zone compressor fridge with a 30 quart (28 L) interior and a temperature range of -4°F to 68°F (-20°C to 20°C). Set it low for frozen meat or high for drinks, produce and prepared meals. It works as a freezer or a refrigerator, with none of the mess of an ice cooler.
A compartment beside the main lid holds BougeRV's 240Wh battery, so the fridge can keep running at a campsite, beach or tailgate with no cords to your vehicle. It also runs on 12V or 24V DC and on 100-240V AC with the included adapter. Choose the Fridge + Battery package, the Fridge Only package if you'll add a battery later, or a 100W or 200W Solar Fridge Kit.
BougeRV states the compressor cools the empty fridge from 77°F to 32°F in about 12 minutes in MAX mode. That helps you bring drinks, groceries and campsite food to temperature quickly before you head out.
Switch to ECO mode for steady cooling with lower energy use. BougeRV states the fridge runs below 35W in ECO under its test conditions, which helps the battery last longer between charges. The rated power input is 60W.
The 240Wh battery (15000mAh, 16V) sits in its own compartment under a separate lid and connects through spring-loaded pins. You can charge it through the fridge's AC adapter or car charger at up to 90W, by USB-C at up to 100W, or from a solar panel at 11-32V and 10A, up to 150W. It also has a USB-C port and an 18W USB-A port for small devices.
Use the BougeRV app to check and change the temperature while the lid stays closed. That's handy when the fridge is packed in a cargo area or you're settled in a camp chair.
The fridge shuts off when the supply voltage drops below the level you pick, which reduces the risk of draining your vehicle battery during stops. On 12V, High cuts out at 11.1V, Medium at 10.1V and Low at 9.6V. The factory setting is Medium.
The CRX3 has a reversible lid, a built-in LED light, a locking latch and side handles for carrying. The display dims after 3 minutes without a button press, and the bottom has a drain hole for cleaning and defrosting.
Camping. Run the fridge from the 240Wh battery at your site and recharge the battery from a solar panel during the day.
Road trips. Plug into 12V or 24V DC on the road, and the battery protection helps keep your vehicle ready to start.
Tailgating and beach days. Carry the fridge from the vehicle to your spot and keep drinks and food cold on battery power.
Shopping runs. Keep frozen and fresh groceries cold on the drive home.
An ice cooler needs fresh ice, and its temperature climbs as the ice melts. The CRX3 holds the temperature you set, works as a freezer, and keeps food out of melt water.
Fridge Only runs from 12V or 24V DC or a wall outlet, and the battery is not included. Fridge + Battery adds the 240Wh battery so you can run the fridge away from vehicle and wall power.
The 100W and 200W Solar Fridge Kits add a folding solar panel to the fridge and 240Wh battery, so you can recharge the battery at camp. The battery's solar input accepts up to 150W.
If you always run the fridge from your vehicle or a wall outlet, Fridge Only may be enough. If you camp away from the vehicle, the battery package or a solar kit gives you power where you set up.
Let the fridge stand for 12 hours after unpacking before you start it, and keep it level while it runs, under 5° of tilt for long periods. Leave about 200 mm (7.9 in) behind it and 100 mm (3.9 in) at the sides for airflow. BougeRV advises disconnecting or switching it off when you turn off the engine, since it could otherwise drain your car's battery.
BougeRV's spec sheet rates the noise at 35dB or lower, while the manual lists 45dB. Either way, it's designed for low-noise use near a tent or sleeping area.
