The BougeRV Rocky V3.0 55QT is a heavy-duty dual zone compressor fridge with a metal outer shell and 55 quarts (52 L) of storage. A removable divider splits the interior into two zones with separate temperature settings, each from -4°F to 68°F (-20°C to 20°C). BougeRV shows four ways to set it up: fridge and freezer, freezer and fridge, two freezers or two fridges.
It's made for overlanding, long road trips and car camping, where you want fresh and frozen food without melting ice. It runs on 12V or 24V DC and on 100-240V AC with the included adapter, and its battery compartment takes BougeRV's B240 detachable battery. Choose the Fridge Only package, or the 100W or 200W Solar-Powered Fridge Kit, which add the 240Wh battery and a folding solar panel.
With the divider in place, the left box holds 22 L and the right box holds 27 L, and each runs at its own temperature. Remove the divider for one 52 L space. You set the left zone with the plus and minus keys, then press the settings key once to switch to the right zone.
BougeRV fits the Rocky with a 5.7cc compressor for fast, stable cooling. The manual states it cools to -4°F based on a 77°F room temperature. MAX mode runs at high speed for fast cooling, and ECO mode saves energy. The manual rates it at 80W in MAX and 64W in ECO.
The battery compartment in the side of the fridge takes BougeRV's B240 detachable battery (240Wh). BougeRV rates the 55QT at up to 17 hours on that battery, tested with no load, no pre-cooling, 77°F ambient and a 32°F target in ECO mode. In the fridge the battery recharges from the AC adapter or car charger at up to 90W, from solar at 11-32V and 10A up to 150W, by USB-C at up to 100W, or from your car through its XT-60i port at up to 100W.
The walls are built in layers: a metal outer shell, a foam layer and the refrigerator's inner wall. That insulation helps keep your food cold, and the metal exterior is designed for rough terrain.
The Rocky runs at ≤45dB, which suits quiet nights at camp. The BougeRV app lets you fine-tune temperatures from your campsite, and it's where you set the battery protection level.
You can change the door's opening direction to suit your vehicle by removing it at a 90° angle and refitting it on the other side. Two removable baskets keep food organized.
Overlanding. Refrigerate drinks and freeze food at the same time on rough trails, with the battery and solar panel to keep cooling far from pavement.
Road trips. Keep groceries, drinks and frozen food cold from park to park on 12V or 24V DC, with fewer grocery stops.
Car camping. Pack fresh breakfast ingredients and frozen steaks for dinner without the mess of melting ice. BougeRV shows it holding 76 cans of 355 ml cola.
An ice cooler can't hold a freezer temperature and fills with melt water. The Rocky holds two set temperatures and keeps food dry.
Fridge Only runs from DC vehicle power or an AC outlet, with no battery included. The 100W and 200W Solar-Powered Fridge Kits add the 240Wh battery and a folding solar panel so you can run and recharge off-grid. The battery's solar input accepts up to 150W.
The fridge measures 28.74 x 17.72 x 18.74 in. After unpacking, let it stand for 12 hours before starting it. Keep it level, under 5° of tilt for long running, and leave about 200 mm (7.9 in) of space behind and 100 mm (3.9 in) at the sides.
Three protection levels shut the fridge off before your vehicle battery runs too low. On 12V, High cuts out at 11.1V, Medium at 10.1V and Low at 9.6V. It's factory set to Medium, and BougeRV advises switching the fridge off or disconnecting it when you turn off the engine.
