The BougeRV Yuma 100W CIGS Thin-Film Flexible Solar Panel with Tape Long Version is a glass-free 100W panel built on CIGS (copper indium gallium selenide) thin-film cells. It measures 82.2 x 13.7 x 0.06 inches, weighs 4.63 lbs and comes with adhesive tape already on the back, so you peel off the liner and press it into place with no brackets or drilling.
The long, narrow shape suits RV roofs, teardrop trailers, boat decks, bimini tops and boat canopies where space is long and slim. Because the panel can be rolled up, it also works as a portable panel at camp. It comes as a single panel or in packs of 2, 3 and 4.
CIGS is a thin-film technology that uses semiconductor layers to turn sunlight into electricity. BougeRV says the cells bend up to 360° without cracking and don't develop the microcracks that rigid crystalline cells can. There's no glass on the panel, so there's nothing to shatter.
Partial shade is common on vehicles and boats. The panel has 12 bypass diodes, which BougeRV says minimize power loss under partial shade, so it keeps delivering steady energy under shade or overcast skies.
Two long strips of adhesive tape and a strip at the junction box end come pre-applied to the back. Peel off the protection tape in order and press the panel onto a smooth surface. BougeRV says the adhesive holds at highway speeds without mechanical fasteners, which keeps your roof free of holes.
At 0.06 inches thick and 4.63 lbs (2.1 kg), the panel adds little weight and sits low on the surface to reduce wind resistance. It needs no aluminum frame or stand, which suits weight-sensitive spots like boat canopies and bimini tops.
BougeRV rates the panel, its solar connectors and its junction box IP68 against rain, snow and dust. The panel is rated for 2400 Pa wind resistance and a 5400 Pa snow load, with operating temperature limits of -40°F to +185°F (-40°C to +85°C).
BougeRV says the glass-free panel is durable enough to be walked on in high-traffic areas of yachts and campers. It can also be rolled up for storage and transport. Always roll it solar side out, because rolling it solar side in will damage the panel.
RV and camper roofs. The 13.7 inch width suits narrow runs of roof where a wider panel won't fit.
Teardrop and travel trailers. Stick the panel onto a curved trailer roof with no frame, brackets or drilled holes.
Boats. Mount it on decks, canopies or bimini tops where weight matters and shade from rigging is common.
Portable camp power. Roll the panel up for the trip and lay it out at camp to charge a power station.
BougeRV's manual sets out the trade-offs. A rigid crystalline panel can't bend, needs racking and mounting hardware, can shatter and is heavier on the roof. The Yuma panel bonds directly to the surface, bends to fit curves and has no glass. A rigid panel can be tilted toward the sun on a bracket, so it may suit a flat rack or ground mount.
BougeRV notes that monocrystalline cells are virtually inflexible and prone to cracking. The Yuma's CIGS cells bend up to 360°, and its bypass diodes help in partial shade. With a 17% cell efficiency, check the 82.2 x 13.7 inch footprint against your space.
A single panel adds 100W. The packs give you matching panels that you can wire in series to raise voltage or in parallel, with a solar parallel connector, to raise current.
The solar cell efficiency is 17%, so this panel spreads its 100W over a long, slim area. Measure your roof or deck for the 82.2 x 13.7 inch footprint, and choose a smooth surface for the adhesive. The 33.5 inch (850 mm) 12AWG leads exit at one short end.
BougeRV lists a solar power station, a lead-acid battery or a lithium battery. Batteries need a solar charge controller; a power station doesn't. Any cable with MC4 connectors can connect to the panel. The manual puts PWM controller conversion efficiency at 75% and MPPT above 90%.
Maximum power is 100W. Vmp is 24V, Imp is 4.21A, Voc is 30.5V and Isc is 4.71A, each ±5%. The maximum system voltage is 1000V DC.
BougeRV gives a maximum bend diameter of 9.4 inches for the 100W panel.
BougeRV says the panel doesn't need mechanical installation and the adhesive on the back can withstand highway speeds. Apply it to a smooth surface.
The margins on both long sides of the panel are about 1 mm.
BougeRV lists a 10-year warranty and a 25-year performance warranty.
The 2 PCS, 3 PCS and 4 PCS options include that number of panels.
The BougeRV Yuma 100W CIGS Thin-Film Flexible Solar Panel with Tape Long Version gives you a glass-free, peel-and-stick 100W panel with 12 bypass diodes and an IP68 rating in a long, slim 4.63 lb package.
