Generac oil filter heater G0071020 sleeve with lead and plug for standby generators

The Generac Oil Filter Heater for Air-Cooled Home Standby Generators Warms the Oil Where It Starts

The Generac Oil Heater, model G0071020 (kit 7102), slips directly over the engine oil filter to warm it. It runs on 240V and draws 50 watts.

Generac says it is only compatible with units manufactured 2008 to 2025. It is recommended where the temperature is 32 degrees F or below.

Generac Oil Filter Heater for Air-Cooled Home Standby Generators Features

Slips Over the Oil Filter

The heater sleeve slides over the filter, with the connector plug at the bottom. Generac's instructions show filter positions for 400, 800, 500 and 1000 series engines.

Turns On and Off Automatically

It turns on at 40 degrees F and off at 55 degrees F, with no manual switching.

Rated 240V, 50 Watts

The heater draws 0.21 amps and connects to N1 and N2 in the generator.

Y-Harness Included

A Y-harness provides a second connection point for an optional battery heater.

Real-World Applications

Cold Winters. Add the heater where temperatures drop to 32 degrees F or below.

Oil Change Day. Generac's instructions have you fit a new oil filter, then slide the heater on.

Combined With a Battery Pad. Use the Y-harness to share the circuit with a battery pad heater.

Practical Comparison

Versus No Oil Heater. Without a heater, the filter and oil start as cold as the air. The sleeve warms the filter when the thermostat turns it on.

Versus the Battery and Breather Heaters. Generac sells separate heaters for the battery and breather. This one covers the oil filter only.

Is the Oil Filter Heater the Right Fit

  • Fits. Units manufactured 2008 to 2025. Generac does not publish a kW range for this heater.
  • Oil change required. Generac requires that the oil be replaced with 5W-30 synthetic when you install any cold weather item.
  • Oil filter. Generac's instructions call for a new oil filter. None is listed in the kit contents.
  • Installation. Qualified personnel only.

This May Be a Good Fit If

  • Your generator is a 2008 to 2025 unit.
  • You live where temperatures fall to 32 degrees F or below.
  • You are changing the oil and filter soon.
