The Jackery Manual Transfer Switch Helps You Safely Move Selected Home Circuits Between Utility And Generator Power

When the grid goes down, the hard part is often getting backup power to the lights, fridge, and other circuits you actually need. The Jackery Manual Transfer Switch is a Pro/Tran® 2 transfer switch that lets you choose between generator (GEN) and utility (LINE) power for connected branch circuits. It is built for homeowners pairing it with the Jackery HomePower 3600 Pro Max, and it is only suitable for that unit. Think of it as a traffic controller for your home's wiring: you decide which power source feeds each circuit, and the switch keeps the two sources from stepping on each other.

Jackery Manual Transfer Switch Features

Double-Throw Selector Switches For Safer Switching During Outages

Each selector switch lets you pick generator or utility power for a connected branch circuit. The double-throw action is designed to prevent generator power from feeding back to the utility, and to prevent utility power from feeding the generator. That is the core job of any transfer switch, and it is why this accessory matters during an outage.

Interchangeable Circuit Breakers So Each Circuit Stays Protected

Every transfer circuit includes a 1-inch interchangeable circuit breaker. It protects the branch circuit when the selector is in the GEN position. In the LINE position, the breaker in your load center protects the circuit instead. Breakers can be changed in the field, so you can match them to the circuit.

  • Positions A and B support breakers up to 30 amps
  • All other positions support 15-amp or 20-amp breakers

Handle Ties For Flexible 120V And 240V Circuit Setups

Adjacent selector switches can be paired with handle ties to handle double-pole 240-volt circuits or multi-wire branch circuits. Handle ties are included. You can remove them for a 120-volt-only layout or add them where you need more 240-volt or multi-wire circuits.

Analog Wattmeters For Balancing Your Load While On Generator Power

Models with an A or C suffix include analog wattmeters that show the total load on each side of the generator while generator power is in use. The left meter reads circuits A, C, and E, plus additional circuits on larger models. The right meter reads circuits B, D, and F. Watching both sides helps you balance loads and avoid overloading your power source. Please confirm your model's suffix before purchase to see if wattmeters are included.

Compatibility With AFCI And GFCI Circuits For Fewer Surprises

The switch is compatible with branch circuits protected by AFCI or GFCI breakers. Protection from those breakers is bypassed in the GEN position, but appropriate breakers can be installed in the transfer switch to maintain protection during generator use. It is designed for use with portable generators that have a floating neutral, meaning the ground and neutral are not bonded. An included wattage requirement chart references a range of common household appliances to help with planning.

Real-World Applications

This is a home-focused accessory, so its sweet spot is straightforward.

  • Home backup power: Select the circuits you want on backup power and switch them over during an outage, without running extension cords through the house.
  • Emergency preparedness: Pair it with the HomePower 3600 Pro Max so your plan is already wired up before storm season, not figured out in the dark.
  • Load planning: Use the wattage requirement chart to decide which appliances belong on your backup circuits and which can wait for the grid.

If you are shopping for RV, camping, or mobile worksite power, this is not the accessory for those jobs. A portable power station with standard outlets is the better starting point for those setups.

How This Transfer Switch Compares To Common Alternatives

Extension cords can power individual devices from a generator or power station, and they are simple. A manual transfer switch is different: it powers selected household circuits through your existing wiring, so the lights and outlets on those circuits work as they normally do. The tradeoff is setup. A transfer switch is a wiring project, so plan for installation and local code requirements.

Compared with an automatic transfer switch, a manual switch asks you to flip the selector yourself when the power goes out. In return, you choose exactly which circuits move to backup power, and you can see the load on the meters if your model includes them.

Is The Jackery Manual Transfer Switch Right For You

This accessory fits homeowners who already own, or plan to own, the Jackery HomePower 3600 Pro Max and want to power hardwired circuits during an outage. Before you buy, confirm a few things:

  • You own or plan to buy the HomePower 3600 Pro Max, the only unit this accessory is listed as suitable for
  • You know which circuits you want to back up and what they draw
  • Your breaker needs match the 30-amp (A and B) and 15- or 20-amp (all other) positions
  • You have confirmed installation requirements with a qualified electrician and your local code

This May Be A Good Fit If

  • You want selected household circuits on backup power, not just a few plugged-in devices
  • You want a clear, hands-on way to choose between utility and generator power
  • You plan to run 120-volt circuits, 240-volt circuits, or both

Common Questions

Will The Jackery Manual Transfer Switch Work With Any Power Station Or Generator?

No. This accessory is only suitable for the Jackery HomePower 3600 Pro Max. The switch is also designed for portable generators with a floating neutral, so confirm your setup before purchase.

Can It Feed Power Back To The Grid?

The double-throw action of the selector switches is designed to prevent generator power from feeding back to the utility, and to prevent utility power from feeding the generator.

Does It Support 240-Volt Circuits?

Yes. Adjacent selector switches can be paired with the included handle ties to support double-pole 240-volt circuits or multi-wire branch circuits. The handle ties can be removed for 120-volt-only installations.

Does It Include Wattmeters?

Models with an A or C suffix include analog wattmeters. Confirm your model's suffix before purchase.

Are My AFCI And GFCI Breakers Still Protected In The GEN Position?

The switch is compatible with AFCI and GFCI protected circuits, but that protection is bypassed in the GEN position. Appropriate breakers can be installed in the transfer switch to maintain protection during generator use.
