Renogy 1000W pure sine wave inverter with transfer switch and wired remote on a white background

The Renogy 1000W 12V Pure Sine Wave Inverter with UPS Transfer Switch and Built-in Bluetooth Passes Grid Power to Your Loads and Switches to Battery in 20 ms

The Renogy 1000W 12V Pure Sine Wave Inverter with UPS Transfer Switch and Built-in Bluetooth converts 12V battery power into 120V AC. It delivers 1000W continuous output and a 2000W surge rating for 2 seconds, with pure sine wave output and total harmonic distortion under 3%. A built-in transfer switch passes grid power straight to your loads when it's available, then switches to battery power if the grid drops.

It's made for vans, semi-trucks, fifth wheels, cabins and other remote or backup setups that run on a 12V battery bank. Built-in Bluetooth lets you check readings in the Renogy DC Home app, and the included wired remote switches the inverter from up to 16.4 ft away.

Renogy 1000W 12V Pure Sine Wave Inverter with UPS Transfer Switch and Built-in Bluetooth Features

UPS Transfer Switch

Connect single-phase 120V grid power to the AC input terminals and the inverter sends it directly to your loads through a bypass. Transfer time is 20 ms from grid to battery and 20 ms from battery to grid, and the transfer switch is rated for 10A. The grid supplies the connected loads only. It does not charge the battery.

Built-In Bluetooth Monitoring

Pair the inverter with the Renogy DC Home app on your phone to see output voltage, output current, output frequency, battery voltage and temperature. Keep the phone within 10 ft (3 m) of the inverter when pairing.

Pure Sine Wave Output With 1000W Continuous Power

The inverter provides 8.3A AC of continuous output and a 2000W surge for 2 seconds, after which overload protection applies. Renogy lists maximum inverter efficiency of 92% and full-load efficiency of 87%.

Outlets, USB and a High Output Terminal Block

Two 120V AC outlets supply up to 10A each, and a 5V/2.1A USB port charges phones and tablets. The high output AC terminals connect to a GFCI, a load sub-panel or additional outlets. A switch sets the AC output frequency to 50 Hz or 60 Hz to match your loads.

Wired Remote and Quiet Cooling

The remote switches the inverter on and off over a 5 m RJ12 cable. Thermally controlled fans cool the unit, and Renogy's product page lists noise below 51 dB with the fan on and below 20 dB with it off.

Protections and N-G Bonding Relay

Protections include GFCI, overload, overtemperature, overvoltage, short-circuit and undervoltage. A neutral-to-ground bonding relay keeps either the neutral in or neutral out contact grounded and can be enabled or disabled. Keep it enabled when the battery supplies the loads, because the GFCI is unavailable with the relay disabled.

Real-World Applications

RV and van power. Run AC loads from your house battery on the road, and let the inverter pass shore power through when you plug in.

Backup power. Keep loads running through a grid outage with a 20 ms switch to battery.

Cabins and sheds. Power small AC loads from a 12V battery bank and check status from your phone.

Semi-trucks and marine use. Renogy lists semi-trucks and marine environments as places where the shore power connection keeps operations running.

Practical Comparison

UPS Transfer Switch Versus a Standard Inverter

A standard inverter has no AC input, so you move plugs or add a separate transfer switch to use grid power. This model has the transfer switch built in, with 10A of grid bypass.

Built-In Bluetooth Versus a Wired-Only Inverter

Many inverters give you only a switch or a wired remote. This one also reports live readings to your phone, so you can check battery voltage and output without walking to the unit.

Pure Sine Wave Versus Modified Sine Inverter

Renogy notes that a modified sine wave inverter can make appliances work harder, while a pure sine wave inverter lets inductive loads such as microwave ovens and motors run faster, quieter and cooler.

Buyer Guidance

Sizing and System Voltage

Keep the total watts of everything you run at once at or below 1000W. This inverter works only with 12V battery banks and accepts 11.0V to 15.5V DC. Renogy says to use deep-cycle sealed lead-acid, flooded, gel or lithium batteries. It does not charge the battery, so you need a separate charging source.

Cables, Fuse and Installation

Renogy recommends a 150A battery fuse on the positive cable. The package includes a pair of 4 AWG 3 ft cables. You supply the 3-prong AC cable for the output side (Renogy recommends 12 AWG). Mount the inverter in a cool, dry, ventilated spot with at least 10 inches of clearance, away from flammable material and not in the same compartment as the batteries. Do not expose it to rain, moisture, snow or liquids. Renogy recommends a qualified technician install it to local and national electric codes, and never to connect the AC output to a panel that is also fed by the utility or a generator.

This May Be A Good Fit If

  • You run a 12V battery system and sometimes have grid or shore power
  • You want a built-in switch from grid to battery
  • You want to check readings from your phone
  • Your loads stay at or below 1000W

Common Questions

Can This Inverter Be Used On-Grid and Off-Grid?

Yes. Renogy says it can be used both on-grid and off-grid. With grid power connected it passes the grid through to the loads, and without it, it runs the loads from the battery.

Does It Charge My Battery From the Grid?

No. Renogy states that the grid supplies the connected loads only and does not charge the battery.

Why Do My Appliances Trip the Inverter?

Renogy lists several causes. Combined loads may exceed the inverter's capacity, inductive loads such as air conditioners and microwave ovens have high peak current, an appliance may have a short circuit, or wiring may be loose. Keep total load at or below 1000W.

What Can I Run With It?

Renogy says loads of 1000 watts or less, such as fans and lights, and recommends not running everything at once if the total goes above 1000 watts.
