The Renogy 10A/16A/32A/50A/63A 1P DC Miniature Circuit Breaker is a single pole DIN rail breaker rated for 250V. It guards DC circuits against overloads and short circuits. When it detects a fault, it switches the circuit off to help protect wires and reduce the risk of fire.
It suits anyone adding circuit protection to a solar, battery or other DC system. Pick the current rating that matches your circuit, from 10A up to 63A.
The breaker uses both a thermal and a magnetic trip mechanism. Small overcurrents trip it after a delay, while a large surge trips it instantly. Renogy lists a rated instantaneous tripping current for each rating, and the breaker has a 6KA breaking capacity.
After a trip, you reset the breaker and it is ready again. There is no fuse to replace. You can also switch it off by hand under its full rated load when you need to do electrical maintenance.
A built-in indicator window shows the contact position at a glance. Renogy shows green for off and red for on. The breaker is built for reversible connection, so you can wire it in either direction, and it works with bidirectional current.
Snap the breaker into the slot of a standard DIN rail, then press the bottom until the buckle locks. To remove it, pull the buckle down. Terminals accept 14 AWG to 4 AWG wire.
Combiner and breaker boxes. Renogy says these breakers are often connected in combiner boxes, breaker boxes and home kits.
Mobile and off-grid power. Renogy shows RV, marine, camping, outdoor, cabin and truck uses.
Controller and inverter circuits. Size the breaker to the controller, inverter or DC device it protects.
A fuse protects against overload and short circuit, but you must replace it after it opens. This breaker resets, and it can also be switched off by hand.
All five ratings share the same body, size and 250V rating. They differ in the current at which they trip, so pick the one closest to your circuit's needs.
For a controller, inverter or other DC device, Renogy says to find the maximum continuous current by dividing watts by voltage, multiply by 1.25, and choose the breaker rated above and closest to that result. For a solar panel, multiply the short-circuit current by 1.25 twice and choose the same way.
Renogy recommends a terminal torque of 17.7 to 20.4 inch pounds (2 to 2.3 N·m). Use wire from 14 AWG to 4 AWG.
The breaker accepts wire from 14 AWG to 4 AWG.
A 1P breaker connects on the live wire only. Renogy says a 2P breaker connects on both the live and neutral wires and normally handles greater current and voltage.
Renogy lists combiner boxes, breaker boxes and home kits.
Each option includes one breaker in the current rating you choose.
The Renogy 10A/16A/32A/50A/63A 1P DC Miniature Circuit Breaker gives your DC circuit protection you can reset. If you need help choosing a rating, the Outbound Power team is glad to help.
