The Renogy 2000W 12V Pure Sine Wave Inverter Runs 12V Battery Power Into 2000W of Clean 115V AC With a 4000W Surge Rating

The Renogy 2000W 12V Pure Sine Wave Inverter converts DC power from a 12V battery bank into 115V, 60 Hz AC power. It delivers 2000W continuous output and a 4000W surge rating for one second, with a pure sine wave output and total harmonic distortion under 3%.

It's built for vans, semi-trucks, fifth wheels, cabins and other off-grid systems that need more AC capacity than a 1000W unit. It has three AC outlets, a USB port, a hardwire AC terminal block and a wired remote. You can buy it alone or with a 12V 200Ah deep cycle AGM battery.

Renogy 2000W 12V Pure Sine Wave Inverter Features

Pure Sine Wave Output

The waveform is similar to grid power, with very low harmonic distortion. Renogy says it lets the inverter supply electronics that need a high-quality waveform, including tools, fans, lights and computers, without interference or buzzing.

2000W Continuous and 4000W Surge

The inverter is rated for 2000W continuous output (16.6A AC) and a 4000W surge for one second to cover start-up loads. Inverter efficiency is over 90%, and full-load efficiency is over 85%.

Three Outlets, USB and a Terminal Block

Three 115V AC outlets supply up to 15A. A 5V/2.1A USB port charges phones and tablets. The AC terminal block under the protective cover connects loads above 15A or a sub-panel with several outlets. The inverter has a built-in GFCI.

Wired Remote Control

The included remote switches the inverter on and off from up to 16.4 ft away over the RJ11 cable. The inverter's ON/OFF/REM switch must be set to REM to use it.

Protections and Status LEDs

The inverter has GFCI, overload, overtemperature, overvoltage, short-circuit and undervoltage protection. Green, yellow and red LEDs show power, GFCI and fault status, and an alarm sounds on low input voltage.

Two Thermally Controlled Cooling Fans

Two fans run as the inverter needs them to carry heat away. The inverter operates from -4°F to 104°F (-20°C to 40°C) according to the manual.

Real-World Applications

Van and RV power. Run AC loads from a 12V house battery bank and mount the remote inside the living space.

Cabins and sheds. Pair it with a 12V battery bank and a solar charging source for AC power without a grid connection.

Marine and camping setups. Renogy lists marine and camping among its uses. Charge phones from the USB port or plug in small appliances.

Battery bundle. Choose the option with a 12V 200Ah deep cycle AGM battery if you need a battery to go with the inverter.

Practical Comparison

Pure Sine Wave Inverter Versus Modified Sine Inverter

Renogy notes that modified sine wave inverters are older technology and generally cost less. They can run many standard appliances but may cause trouble with delicate electronics or audio equipment. A pure sine wave inverter costs more but works with a wider range of equipment, and inductive loads such as microwave ovens and motors run faster, quieter and cooler.

Inverter Only Versus Inverter With 200Ah AGM Battery

Both options include the same inverter, 1/0 AWG cables and remote. The battery option adds one 12V 200Ah deep cycle AGM battery and two terminal bolts. Choose inverter only if you already have a 12V battery bank.

Buyer Guidance

Sizing and Battery Voltage

Add up the watts of everything you will run at the same time and keep the total below 2000W continuous. Watts equal volts times amps. This inverter works only with 12V battery systems, not 24V. Renogy says it works with deep-cycle sealed lead-acid, flooded, gel or 12V lithium batteries. The inverter does not charge batteries, so you need a separate charging source. At full load it can draw up to 166.6A from the battery, so size the battery bank and cables for that.

Cables, Fuse and Installation

Renogy lists a 250A battery fuse for this model and recommends using one. Use the thickest wire that's practical, in the shortest length, and keep the inverter close to the battery bank. Mount it on a horizontal surface in a cool, dry, ventilated spot with at least 10 inches of clearance, not in the same compartment as the batteries. Renogy recommends installation by a qualified technician following local and national electric codes. Never connect the AC output to a breaker panel or load center that is also fed by the utility or a generator.

This May Be A Good Fit If

  • You have a 12V battery system
  • Your combined AC loads stay under 2000W
  • You want three outlets plus a hardwire terminal block
  • You want a remote switch for the inverter

Common Questions

Can I Use the Inverter With a 24V System?

No. This model works only with 12V battery systems.

Can This Inverter Charge My Batteries?

No. It only converts DC power to AC power. If you need to charge batteries from AC power, look at an inverter charger instead.

Does It Work With Lithium Batteries?

Yes, as long as the lithium battery is rated for 12V applications.

Is There a Bluetooth Module for It?

No. Renogy states that no Bluetooth module is compatible with this inverter. You control it with the ON/OFF/REM switch or the wired remote.
