The Renogy 2000W 24V Pure Sine Wave Inverter converts power from a 24V battery bank into 120V AC. It delivers 2000W continuous output and a 4000W surge rating for 2 seconds, with a pure sine wave output and a maximum efficiency of 92%.
It's made for semi-trucks, boats, RVs and other off-grid systems built on 24V. Renogy says a 24V system needs fewer batteries and wires than a 12V system, which keeps the installation neater. The unit has two AC outlets, a hardwire terminal block and a wired remote.
The inverter runs from a 24V battery bank and accepts 23V to 30.7V DC. Renogy says a 24V system outperforms a 12V system by needing fewer batteries and wires, which gives a neater setup and can reduce cost. This model does not work with 12V systems.
The inverter provides 16.6A AC of continuous output and a 4000W surge for 2 seconds. Renogy recommends starting inductive loads such as air conditioners first and letting them stabilize before turning on other appliances, which helps avoid sudden shutdowns. Inverter efficiency is up to 92%, and full-load efficiency is 89%.
The pure sine wave output is smooth and consistent, similar to grid power. Renogy says this lets inductive loads such as microwave ovens and motors run faster, quieter and cooler, and suits sensitive electronics such as computers and audio equipment.
Two AC outlets cover plug-in loads, and the terminal block gives you a hardwired connection for wider compatibility. Output is 120V AC at 50 Hz or 60 Hz.
A built-in GFCI protects against electrical faults. The wired remote switches the inverter on and off over a 16.4 ft cable. Renogy asks you to make sure the inverter chassis is well grounded.
Thermally controlled fans cool the unit. It measures 16.94 x 8.99 x 3.75 in and weighs 10.14 lb, and it operates from -4°F to 131°F (-20°C to 55°C). Renogy lists an idle draw under 0.8A (19.2W).
Semi-trucks. Renogy suggests placing the inverter under the seat to free interior space. Its fans suit seat backs and enclosed spaces.
Boats. The inverter is listed to UL 458 including the marine supplement. Connect its ground to the boat's electrical ground, and add GFCI protection and properly rated fuses and breakers on the DC and AC sides.
RVs. Power RV appliances from a 24V battery bank with the remote mounted inside the living space.
Off-grid cabins. Pair it with a 24V battery bank and a solar charging source.
At the same power level, a 24V system needs fewer batteries and wires than a 12V system, according to Renogy. The tradeoff is that your battery bank must be 24V. If your bank is 12V, choose a 12V inverter instead.
Modified sine wave inverters cost less but have a rugged waveform that can cause noise and inefficiency in some appliances. Motors may run less efficiently and produce more heat, and some sensitive electronics may glitch. A pure sine wave inverter avoids this.
You can run loads with a combined rating of up to 2000 watts at the same time, such as a refrigerator and microwave. If the total goes above 2000 watts, the inverter's protection may trip. The required battery capacity depends on your expected runtime and load, and Renogy points you to its instruction manual for recommendations. The inverter works only with a 24V battery system, and you need a separate charging source.
Ground the inverter chassis. Use appropriately rated fuses and circuit breakers on both the DC and AC sides, and add GFCI outlets or inline protection on the AC side, especially on a boat. Leave about 1.97 inches above the inverter and at least 4 inches beside the busbar side. Renogy's instruction manual has the full installation steps.
Yes. Renogy lists boats as an application and the inverter is listed to UL 458 including the marine supplement. Connect the inverter's ground to the boat's electrical ground, such as the grounding plate or the engine's negative ground. Use GFCI protection and properly rated fuses and breakers.
Loads with a combined rating up to 2000 watts, such as a refrigerator and microwave. Running more than that may trip the inverter's protection.
Renogy lists four causes. Running too many appliances at once can exceed the inverter's capacity. Air conditioners and microwaves have high starting currents. A short circuit in an appliance can trip it. Loose wiring or poor connections can also cause trips.
It depends on your expected runtime and load. The battery bank has to supply the inverter's power demand for the time you want. Renogy points you to the instruction manual for sizing.
The Renogy 2000W 24V Pure Sine Wave Inverter brings 2000W of pure sine wave AC power, GFCI protection and a wired remote to your 24V system. If you want help planning your battery bank or choosing fuses and cables, the Outbound Power team is ready to help.
