Renogy 3500W 48V pure sine wave solar inverter charger shown from a three-quarter angle

The Renogy 3500W 48V Pure Sine Wave Solar Inverter Charger Combines an Inverter, an 80A MPPT Solar Controller and a 40A AC Charger in One Wall-Mount Unit

The Renogy 3500W 48V Pure Sine Wave Solar Inverter Charger is an all-in-one unit for 48V battery systems. It combines a 3500W pure sine wave inverter, an 80A MPPT solar charge controller and a 40A AC charger. Renogy rates it for 3500W of rated power and a 7000W surge.

It is made for RVs, boats, backup power and home off-grid systems that run on a 48V battery bank. An LCD with status lights, Bluetooth monitoring and a remote let you see and manage the system without opening the unit.

Renogy 3500W 48V Pure Sine Wave Solar Inverter Charger Features

Three Functions in One Unit

One box handles solar charging, AC charging and inverting. Fewer separate components means fewer connections to plan, mount and wire. The inverter outputs a pure sine wave at 120V AC (100V to 120V in 5V steps) and 50/60 Hz, adjustable, with peak efficiency above 95%.

80A MPPT Solar Input

The built-in MPPT controller accepts up to 4400W of PV power, up to 150V open-circuit voltage and up to 50A of input current. The MPPT voltage range is 60V to 120V, and the maximum PV charging current is 80A.

40A AC Charging and Quick Transfer

When AC power is available, the unit can charge the battery at up to 40A. It accepts 85V to 140V AC input, and Renogy lists a typical 10 ms transfer time between bypass and invert, so connected loads switch over quickly if AC or solar charging is lost.

Lead-Acid and Lithium Battery Support

The unit charges lead-acid or lithium batteries across a 40V to 60V DC battery voltage range, with a 48V nominal system voltage. Renogy lists compatibility with AGM, sealed, gel, flooded and lithium types. Maximum battery charging current is 120A and is adjustable.

Low Idle Power and Power Saving Mode

Renogy lists idle consumption under 48W, and about 25W in its power saving (sleep) mode. That matters on a battery bank that has to last between charges.

LCD, Bluetooth and Remote

The front panel has an LCD with AC/INV, CHARGE and FAULT lights and SET, UP, DOWN and ENT buttons. Renogy also lists Bluetooth monitoring and a remote in the package.

Real-World Applications

RV power. Renogy shows the unit wall-mounted in an RV with the batteries and wiring running below it.

Backup power. Use the AC charger and quick transfer to keep a 48V battery bank topped up and loads running when AC drops.

Boats. Renogy lists boat trips as an application for the unit.

Home energy systems. Pair it with a solar array and a 48V battery bank for off-grid home power.

Practical Comparison

All-in-One Unit Versus Separate Components

A separate inverter, solar charge controller and AC charger each need their own mounting space and wiring. This unit combines the three, which can simplify a 48V build. A system built from separate parts can be expanded one piece at a time.

Inverter Charger Versus a Standalone Inverter

A standalone inverter only converts battery power to AC. This inverter charger also charges the battery from AC and from solar, and it passes AC through to your loads when AC is present.

Buyer Guidance

Battery Voltage and Solar Array Limits

This unit is for 48V systems with a battery voltage between 40V and 60V DC. Keep the solar array's open-circuit voltage at or below 150V and its input current at or below 50A. Keep the array's operating voltage within the 60V to 120V MPPT range. Renogy's page includes a note that 12V batteries can be connected in series to make a 48V bank, and says to confirm compatibility and safety before doing so.

Size and Mounting

The unit measures 17.51 x 12.99 x 4.88 in and weighs 22.38 lb. Renogy's page asks you to check this size before buying and to leave 1.97 inches of space above the unit and at least 4 inches on the busbar side. Our sources do not list wire sizes or fuse ratings, so ask the Outbound Power team before you plan cabling.

This May Be A Good Fit If

  • You run a 48V battery bank
  • You want an inverter, MPPT controller and AC charger in one box
  • You want to monitor the system on a screen or over Bluetooth
  • Your solar array stays within 150V open-circuit voltage

Common Questions

Does It Work With Lithium Batteries?

Yes. Renogy lists lead-acid or lithium batteries, including AGM, sealed, gel, flooded and lithium types, on a 48V system.

Can It Charge From the Grid or a Generator?

It has a 40A AC charger with an input range of 85V to 140V AC. Renogy does not say which AC sources it is tested with, so ask us before connecting a generator.

Can It Work With a 12V or 24V Battery?

No. It is a 48V unit with a 40V to 60V DC battery range.

Does It Include Batteries or Cables?

No. Renogy's package list shows the inverter charger and a remote only.
