The Renogy 700W 12V Pure Sine Wave Inverter converts DC power from a 12V battery bank into 115V, 60 Hz AC power. It is rated for 700W continuous output and a 1400W surge for one second, with a pure sine wave output and total harmonic distortion under 3%.
It is built for vans, RVs, boats, cabins and camping setups that need household-style power from a 12V system. It has two AC outlets and a USB port, and the package includes a pair of 6 AWG battery cables and a wired remote, so you can get started without buying them separately.
The waveform is similar to grid power, with very low harmonic distortion. Renogy says this lets the inverter supply tools, fans, lights, computers and other electronics without interference or buzzing, and that inductive loads such as motors run cooler and quieter.
The inverter is rated for 700W continuous output (5.8A AC) and a 1400W surge for one second to handle start-up loads. Efficiency is over 90%, and efficiency at full load is over 85%. Power consumption is under 10W.
Two 115V AC outlets supply up to 6.1A. A 5V/2.1A USB port charges phones and tablets from the same unit.
The wired remote connects with an RJ11 network cable (5 m) and lets you switch the inverter on and off from a distance. The inverter's ON/OFF/REM switch must be in the REM position for the remote to work. Two 6 AWG, 3 ft inverter cables are also in the box.
The inverter has GFCI, overload, overtemperature, overvoltage, short-circuit and undervoltage protection. Green, yellow and red LEDs show power, GFCI and fault status, and an alarm sounds on low or high input voltage.
The cooling fan runs as the inverter needs it. The inverter operates from -4°F to 104°F (-20°C to 40°C), and its housing is metal.
Van and RV power. Run small AC loads from a 12V house battery and mount the remote inside the living space, away from the inverter.
Boats. Renogy lists marine use as an application. Keep the inverter in a dry, ventilated spot and out of the same compartment as the batteries.
Cabins and off-grid sites. Pair it with a 12V battery bank and a solar charging source for AC power where there is no grid.
Camping. Charge phones from the USB port or plug in small appliances while parked.
Renogy notes that modified sine wave inverters are older technology and generally cost less. They can run many standard appliances, but may cause trouble with delicate electronics or audio equipment, and some equipment runs hotter. A pure sine wave inverter like this one costs more but works with a wider range of equipment.
Renogy's manual covers 700W, 1000W, 2000W and 3000W models in this series. The 700W model has two AC outlets and no hardwire AC terminal block, and it needs a smaller battery fuse and lighter cables than the larger models. If your combined loads are close to 700W, look at a larger model.
Add up the watts of everything you will run at the same time and keep the total below 700W continuous. Watts equal volts times amps. Appliances with high start-up current can trip the inverter, so allow for the 1400W one-second surge limit. This inverter works only with 12V battery systems, not 24V. The manual lists deep-cycle sealed lead-acid, flooded, gel or lithium batteries, and Renogy's FAQ says a lithium battery works if it is rated for 12V. It does not charge batteries, so you need a separate charging source.
Renogy lists a 100A battery fuse for this model and recommends using one. Use the thickest wire that is practical, in the shortest length, and keep the inverter close to the battery bank. Mount it on a horizontal surface in a cool, dry, ventilated spot with at least 10 inches of clearance, not in the same compartment as the batteries. Renogy recommends installation by a qualified technician following local and national electric codes. Never connect the AC output to a breaker panel or load center that is also fed by the utility or a generator.
No. This model works only with 12V battery systems.
No. It only converts DC power to AC power. If you need to charge batteries from AC, look at an inverter charger instead.
Yes, as long as the lithium battery is rated for 12V applications.
No. Renogy states that no Bluetooth module is compatible with this inverter. You control it with the ON/OFF/REM switch or the wired remote.
Yes. Renogy's package includes two 6 AWG, 3 ft inverter cables.
The Renogy 700W 12V Pure Sine Wave Inverter gives you pure sine wave AC power, a USB port and a wired remote from a 12V battery bank. If you have questions about sizing your battery bank or matching cables and fuses, the Outbound Power team is happy to help.
