The Renogy Battery Inverter Cables for 3/8 in Lugs are a red and black pair with 3/8 in ring terminals at both ends. Renogy designed them to run between a power inverter and a battery bank. You can choose 5 ft 4 AWG, 8 ft 1 AWG, 5 ft 2/0 AWG or 5 ft 4/0 AWG.
They suit anyone wiring an inverter whose terminals take 3/8 in lugs, such as RV, van, boat and off-grid builds. Match the gauge and length to your inverter and your fusing plan.
Red and black cables make it easy to identify positive and negative at both the inverter and the battery. That helps you avoid reversed polarity.
Each cable has a ring terminal for a 3/8 in lug at each end, so there is nothing to crimp. Renogy says the 8 ft 1 AWG cables have heat shrink on both ends.
Renogy lists stranded conductors that can be bent to suit your layout. The 4 AWG and 1 AWG options use tinned copper with Class K 30 AWG bare copper stranding.
Renogy lists a flame retardant polyvinyl chloride compound. The 8 ft 1 AWG cables use UL-certified Cobra X-Flex, which Renogy says resists moisture, abrasion, acid, diesel fuel and oil.
Inverter to battery bank. Link an inverter to a single battery or a battery bank, keeping the run short.
Replacing worn cables. Swap in a ready-made pair with the right terminals when old cables are damaged or the wrong size.
Choosing a size. Use the thicker gauges when your inverter draws more current. Renogy lists 230A as the maximum operating current for the 5 ft 4/0 AWG option.
Cutting and crimping your own cable takes cable, lugs, heat shrink and a crimper. These cables come with terminals attached in set lengths.
The 4 AWG pair is the thinnest and lightest, and 4/0 AWG is the thickest. A thicker gauge carries more current over the same distance. Pick the gauge that fits your inverter and its fuse.
Check your inverter manual for the cable gauge and fuse it calls for, then pick the matching option. Keep the cables as short as practical, since long runs add voltage drop. If you are unsure, ask a qualified electrician.
These cables fit 3/8 in lugs. Make sure your inverter and battery terminals are sized for 3/8 in lugs before ordering.
You get a pair, one red and one black.
Renogy lists 600/1000V for the 4 AWG, 1 AWG and 4/0 AWG options. The 4 AWG and 1 AWG options list a maximum of 221°F dry and 167°F wet, and the 4/0 AWG option lists 220°F dry and 165°F wet.
Renogy lists a 1-year material and workmanship warranty for accessories.
Each option includes one red and one black cable in the length and gauge you choose.
The Renogy Battery Inverter Cables for 3/8 in Lugs give you a ready-to-install pair in the gauge you need. If you want help choosing a size, the Outbound Power team is glad to help.
