The Renogy Battery Shunt 300 Lets You Watch Battery Charge, Current and Temperature From Your Phone or Renogy ONE Core

The Renogy Battery Shunt 300 is a Bluetooth battery monitor. It measures battery voltage and current, then calculates state of charge (SOC) and remaining running time. It also records history such as discharge capacity, charge cycles and battery temperature.

It is made for RV, van, boat and off-grid owners who want to know how much power is left in the battery. It works with lead acid (AGM, GEL), lithium iron phosphate, lithium-ion and nickel-metal hybrid batteries. Choose the shunt alone or with a Renogy ONE Core.

Renogy Battery Shunt 300 Features

Rated for 300A and 8V to 120V DC

The shunt handles up to 300 A continuous and 500 A peak for under 10 seconds. It accepts 8 V to 120 V DC and draws under 0.1 W. Current accuracy is ±1% with 0.01 A resolution.

Clear Battery Readings

It shows SOC, voltage, current, energy, remaining time, temperature and starter battery voltage. You enter a battery capacity from 1 Ah to 6500 Ah when you first connect it.

Bluetooth to the DC Home App and Renogy ONE Core

Built-in Bluetooth LE and Bluetooth Mesh link the shunt to the Renogy DC Home app and Renogy ONE Core. You can view live charge and discharge data and set alarms for SOC, deep discharge thresholds and temperature.

Historical Data

The shunt records history that you can review in the app. Renogy's photos note that data stays on the device for 30 days and in the Renogy cloud with no stated time limit.

Battery Temperature Sensor

A 1.5 m (4.92 FT) temperature sensor is included. It reads from -20°C to 80°C (-4°F to 176°F) with ±1% accuracy.

Mounts Where You Need It

Set it on top of the battery or fasten it to a surface with the included mounting screws. Covers protect the connection points.

Real-World Applications

RV and van batteries. Renogy's diagrams show the shunt on an auxiliary battery fed by a DC-DC charger, with loads, chargers and inverters on the other side.

Starter and house battery setups. Connect the B2 port to a starter battery and the shunt detects both battery voltages.

Larger battery banks. Batteries wired in parallel or series are supported as long as combined continuous current stays under 300 A and voltage under 120 V.

Practical Comparison

Battery Shunt 300 Versus a Voltage-Only Meter

A voltage-only meter shows only voltage. A shunt measures current, so it can calculate SOC and remaining time.

Shunt Only Versus With Renogy ONE Core

The shunt alone reports to the Renogy DC Home app on your phone. The ONE Core option adds a Renogy ONE Core, which also works with the shunt over Bluetooth Mesh and shows battery data on its screen.

Buyer Guidance

Stay Within 300A

Renogy warns that prolonged operation above 300 A may overheat and damage the device. The 300A rating is a maximum current limit, not a battery bank size limit. Check the maximum continuous current in your circuit.

Plan the Wiring

The B- and P- terminals use M10 bolts. Renogy lists bare wires and two 3/8 in (M10) lugs among the items you need, and these are not in the box. Renogy's manual calls for insulating gloves during installation.

This May Be A Good Fit If

  • You want SOC and remaining time from a real current measurement
  • You run lead acid, lithium iron phosphate or lithium-ion batteries
  • You want alarms and history in the Renogy DC Home app
  • You plan a Renogy ONE Core display

Common Questions

Does it need to know my battery type?

No. Renogy says the shunt does not tell battery types apart. It calculates from current and voltage. It asks for battery capacity on first connection, and you can set SOC to 100% after a full charge.

Why does current show as negative while charging?

In the Renogy DC Home app and Renogy ONE, current shows as negative when charging and positive when discharging.

Can it monitor a bank bigger than 300A?

Renogy says the 300A figure is the shunt's maximum, not a bank size limit. Calculate the actual maximum continuous current in your circuit to confirm it fits.

Why is my SOC reading off?

Check the wiring first. If it is still off, charge the battery to 100% and set the capacity again in the app.
