The Renogy Battery to Charge Controller Tray Cables for 3/8 in Lugs are a pair of tin-plated copper cables. Each has a 3/8 in ring terminal on one end for your battery and exposed stranded wire on the other end for your charge controller. Renogy says the length listed is for each cable, not both together.
They are for anyone wiring a Renogy solar charge controller to a battery bank. We offer 8 ft in 12 AWG, 10 AWG, 8 AWG and 4 AWG, and 16 ft in 10 AWG.
The 3/8 in ring terminals bolt to your battery. The stripped end goes into the charge controller's battery terminal, which Renogy says is labeled with a battery icon and "BATT". Renogy lists a round center hole of 3/8 in.
Renogy lists stranded copper wire that is tin plated, with pure oxygen-free copper wiring and tin-plated copper terminals. Renogy says the tin plating helps minimize corrosion.
Heat-shrink tubing insulates the wire at the terminal. Renogy says it adds abrasion resistance and electrical safety.
Renogy says the cable meets TUV standards for PV solar applications. It describes the cable as UV-resistant and waterproof.

RV, marine and cabin systems. Renogy lists RV, marine, camping, outdoor, cabin and truck uses for these cables.
Making your own cable takes cable, lugs and heat shrink. These cables come with the battery terminals attached and a bare end ready for the controller.
Renogy's general guide gives maximum current by gauge: 12 AWG 20A, 10 AWG 30A, 8 AWG 55A and 4 AWG 95A. A thicker gauge carries more current. Check your controller manual for the largest wire its terminals accept.
Pick a wire gauge that carries the current in your system. For example, Renogy recommends 8 AWG wire with a 40A Renogy charge controller. Renogy's chart suggests 12 AWG for 10A controllers, 10 AWG for 20A, 8 AWG for 30A and 40A, and 4 AWG for 60A. It calls these tables a general guide.
Renogy recommends a fuse or circuit breaker between the charge controller and battery, matched to the controller's amperage. For a 40A controller, that means a 40A fuse. A fuse is not included.
It connects your Renogy solar charge controller to your battery bank's ring terminals.
Yes. The length listed is for each cable in the pair.
A fuse is not needed for the system to run, but Renogy always recommends fuses or circuit breakers for safety.
Renogy lists a 1-year material and workmanship warranty.
Each option includes one pair in the length and gauge you choose.
The Renogy Battery to Charge Controller Tray Cables for 3/8 in Lugs make the battery connection easier to complete. If you want help picking a gauge for your controller, the Outbound Power team is ready to help.
