The Renogy Battery Voltage Sensor With Battery Ring Terminals (BVS) is a 16.4 ft (5 m) sensing cable. A green terminal block plugs into your charge controller or charger, and M8 ring terminals connect to your battery bank. It reports the voltage measured at the battery terminals.
It is made for systems with long wire runs. Renogy says the voltage at a charge controller's terminals can differ from the voltage at the battery, and this sensor gives the controller the more precise battery reading.
The sensor sends the battery's voltage to the controller, which lets it adjust the charging stage more precisely. Renogy says this improves overall battery performance and life.
Plug the green terminal block into the sensor port, then connect the red M8 ring terminal to the positive battery post and the black one to the negative. The M8 terminals are about 5/16 in. Renogy shows how to wire the green block, with red to the left (positive) pin and black to the right (negative) pin.
Renogy lists 12V, 24V, 36V and 48V battery banks, and lead-acid (flooded, sealed and gel) and lithium iron phosphate batteries. Renogy also says it works with its Lithium 12V/48V, AGM 12V and GEL 12V batteries.
Renogy lists the sensor as UL, ETL, CE, RoHS and FCC compliant.
Long cable runs. Use it when your controller is far from the battery bank, so the controller reads the battery's own voltage.
RV, marine and cabin systems. Renogy lists RV, marine, camping, outdoor, cabin and truck uses.
Without the sensor, the controller reads voltage at its own terminals. With it, the controller reads at the battery terminals, which can differ over long wire runs.
Each Renogy controller has its own port name. Renogy lists the Rover 60A and 100A "Battery Sampling" port, Rover Boost 10A and Rover Elite 20A and 40A "BATT" port, Adventurer Li 30A "Batt Remote" port, and the 30A and 50A DC-DC MPPT chargers "BVS" port.
Make sure the green connector is firmly in its port. Renogy suggests using a multimeter to read the battery terminals to verify the connection.
It is 16.4 ft (5 m).
Yes. Renogy says it works with the Adventurer Li 30A PWM charge controller through the "Batt Remote" port.
On long wire runs, the voltage at the controller can differ from the battery voltage. This sensor gives the controller the battery's voltage so it can adjust charging more precisely.
Renogy lists a 1-year material and workmanship warranty for accessories.
The Renogy Battery Voltage Sensor With Battery Ring Terminals lets your controller see the voltage where it counts. If you are not sure which port your controller uses, the Outbound Power team is happy to help.
