The Renogy Copper Battery Interconnect Cable for 5/16 in Lugs Links Your Batteries in Series or Parallel With Tin-Plated Copper

The Renogy Copper Battery Interconnect Cable for 5/16 in Lugs is a single battery-to-battery cable with a 5/16 in ring lug on each end. It is made of 100% copper cable with a tin coating, and heat-shrink tubing covers the cable at each lug.

Use it to wire batteries together in series, in parallel, or in a series-parallel bank. It comes in three options, 12 in 4 AWG, 16 in 4 AWG and 12 in 1 AWG, so you can match the jumper to your battery spacing and wire size.

Renogy Copper Battery Interconnect Cable for 5/16 in Lugs Features

Tin-Plated Copper Conductor

The conductor is tin-coated copper with Class K 30 gauge bare copper stranding. Renogy says the tin plating helps heat dissipation and electrical conductivity, so the cable carries current with less resistance.

5/16 in Ring Lugs on Both Ends

Each end has a 5/16 in (M8) tin-plated copper ring lug.

Heat-Shrink Insulation at Each Lug

Heat-shrink tubing covers the joint between the cable and the lug. Renogy says it insulates the wire and adds abrasion resistance and electrical safety,.

Rated for Heat and Weather

The cable is rated 600/1000 V and 221°F (105°C) dry or 167°F (75°C) wet. Renogy states it meets TUV standards for PV solar use and describes it as UV resistant and waterproof.

Real-World Applications

Series wiring. Join the negative terminal of one battery to the positive terminal of the next to raise the system voltage while keeping the same amp hour capacity.

Parallel wiring. Join negative to negative and positive to positive to keep the voltage the same and add capacity. This takes two cables for a pair of batteries.

Off-grid banks. Renogy lists RV, marine, camping, outdoor, cabin and truck setups as uses for these cables.

Practical Comparison

12 in 4 AWG Versus 16 in 4 AWG

Both options use 4 AWG cable. Pick the 12 in length for batteries set close together and the 16 in length when the terminals are farther apart.

4 AWG Versus 1 AWG

The 1 AWG option is a heavier cable than the 4 AWG options. Choose the gauge that matches the wiring in your battery system.

Buyer Guidance

Keep Cable Lengths Equal

Renogy says the cables between each battery should be the same length. That gives every battery the same cable resistance, so all the batteries work equally together.

Order One Cable per Connection

This listing is for a single cable, not a set. A series link needs one cable per battery pair, and a parallel pair needs two.

This May Be A Good Fit If

  • You are linking two or more batteries with 5/16 in terminals
  • You want a ready-made copper jumper with insulated lugs

Common Questions

Does It Come as a Pair?

No. Renogy says the listing is for a single cable.

How Do I Connect Two Batteries in Parallel?

Use two cables. Connect the negative terminal of one battery to the negative terminal of the second, then connect the positive terminal to the positive terminal.

What Warranty Does It Have?

Renogy lists a 1-year material warranty for accessories.
