The Renogy REGO 12V 3000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter Charger with LCD Display Inverts, Charges and Switches Between Shore Power and Battery in One Unit

The Renogy REGO 12V 3000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter Charger with LCD Display combines a pure sine wave inverter and a battery charger. It is rated for 3000W continuous output and 9000W surge, and it recharges 12V house batteries, including lithium, when AC power is available.

It is made for RVs, boats, camping setups, cabins and trucks that move between shore power and battery power. An integrated transfer relay with neutral-ground bonding switches between them, and built-in Bluetooth lets you check the inverter charger on your phone.

Renogy REGO 12V 3000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter Charger with LCD Display Features

3000W Continuous and 9000W Surge Output

The inverter outputs pure sine wave AC at 100V to 120V, configurable in 5V steps, and 50/60 Hz. Conversion efficiency is over 90%. No-load draw is under 30W in normal mode and under 15W in power saving mode.

4-Stage Battery Charging

The charger runs bulk, boost, float and equalization stages to bring the battery to 100%. Output current is configurable from 5A to 75A in 5A steps, and optimal charger efficiency is over 85%. Input accepts 90V to 138V AC at 40 Hz to 70 Hz, from utility power or a generator.

Transfer Switch for Shore Power and Battery

The unit passes AC through and changes over in about 10 ms. The transfer rating is 30A continuous and 40A maximum. Renogy describes it as an automatic transfer switch that keeps your RV powered when shore power drops.

Works With Many Battery Types

Choose GEL, AGM, SLA, FLD, CAL, LI or USER battery settings. Renogy lists support for activating lithium batteries and for powering a lithium battery's self-heating system, which Renogy says keeps operation going within -20°C to 40°C. A battery temperature sensor is included, but Renogy notes it is not compatible with lithium batteries.

LCD Display and Bluetooth Monitoring

A bright LCD shows operating status and alerts, and four function keys let you navigate pages and set parameters. Input voltage range and charging current are configurable. Built-in Bluetooth connects to the Renogy DC Home app on your phone.

Protections and Certifications

Renogy shows overload, overcharge, over-discharge, short-circuit and overtemperature protection. The unit is certified to FCC Class A Part 15, UL458 (including the Marine supplement) and CSA-C22.2 No. 107.1.

Real-World Applications

RV power. Renogy says the unit switches automatically between shore power and inverter power, so your RV keeps its power.

Boats and marine setups. The UL458 listing includes the Marine supplement, and Renogy lists marine use as an application.

Cabins, camping and trucks. Charge a 12V bank from a generator or utility power, then run AC loads from the batteries.

Practical Comparison

Inverter Charger Versus a Standalone Inverter

A standalone inverter only converts battery power to AC. This inverter charger also charges the battery from AC and transfers loads to AC power when it is available.

Inverter Only Versus Inverter Plus Renogy ONE Core

Both options use the same inverter charger. The Inverter + Renogy ONE Core option adds a Renogy ONE Core, a 4 in touch screen monitor that works over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Zigbee 3.0. Renogy lists this inverter charger as compatible with the ONE Core over Bluetooth and CAN. You can also use the inverter charger with the Renogy DC Home app alone.

Buyer Guidance

Battery Voltage and Space

This is a 12V inverter charger. The unit measures 20.1 x 11.2 x 7.6 in and weighs 63.5 lb, and Renogy says those dimensions are the body only, so leave room for cable grommets and cables. Renogy's page asks for 1.97 inches of space above the unit and at least 4 inches on the side with the busbars.

Cabling and Installation

Our sources do not list fuse sizes or cable gauges for this model, and Renogy's FAQ says wiring that is too thin can cause voltage drop or overheating. Have a qualified installer size the cables and breakers, and ask the Outbound Power team if you want help planning your system.

This May Be A Good Fit If

  • You want an inverter, charger and transfer switch in one unit
  • You move between shore power and battery power
  • You charge lithium or lead-acid batteries
  • You want Bluetooth monitoring or a Renogy ONE Core

Common Questions

Does It Have Built-In Bluetooth?

Yes. You can monitor it in the Renogy DC Home app without a separate Bluetooth module.

Can It Charge Lithium Batteries?

Yes. Renogy lists LI among the supported battery types, and the charger current is adjustable from 5A to 75A.

Can I Use a Generator With It?

The charger accepts sine wave input at 90V to 138V AC and 40 Hz to 70 Hz from utility or a generator. Renogy says any 60 Hz generator is compatible and that an inverter-type generator is ideal.

Does the Temperature Sensor Work With Lithium Batteries?

No. Renogy says the included battery temperature sensor is not compatible with lithium batteries.

What's Included

  • 1 x Renogy REGO 12V 3000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter Charger with LCD Display
  • 1 x Battery Temperature Sensor

One Unit for Inverting, Charging and Switching

The Renogy REGO 12V 3000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter Charger with LCD Display brings an inverter, a charger and a transfer switch together for your 12V system. If you have questions about the two options or planning your cables and breakers, the Outbound Power team is happy to help.
