The Renogy REGO 12V 60A MPPT Solar Charge Controller charges a 12V battery bank from up to 800W of solar input. It accepts a solar voltage of up to 100V, uses Anderson PP75 connectors for plug-in wiring, and includes a Battery Protection Unit (BPU) to help guard the battery and the system. It has Bluetooth built in for the Renogy DC Home app.
It is made for RV, van, overland, marine and off-grid builders who want a compact controller that is quick to wire. It has no display, so you check on it from your phone. Choose the controller alone or with a 5 ft or 10 ft 6 AWG adapter cable.
Rated charge current is 60A for 12V batteries, with rated solar input of 800W. Solar input can reach 100V open circuit, and the maximum short-circuit input current is 50A. MPPT tracking efficiency is above 99%, and conversion efficiency peaks at 98%.
The solar and battery terminals are Anderson PP75 connectors, and the controller ships with an Anderson PP75 to MC4 solar adapter cable. Renogy says this plug-in design cuts installation time. To connect a battery that is not a REGO battery, Renogy says an Anderson to ring terminal cable is needed.
The BPU helps prevent damage from short circuits and system faults. Renogy also lists overcharge, over-discharge and battery reverse polarity protection on the battery side, and over-voltage, short circuit, reverse polarity and night back-flow protection on the solar side.
Turn the knob to choose AGM, Gel, Flooded or Lithium, or choose USER to set your own values in the Renogy DC Home app. Lead-acid batteries use 3-stage charging, and lithium batteries use 2-stage charging.
Monitor the controller and change settings with the Renogy DC Home app over Bluetooth. CAN ports support RV-C and Modbus communication with other REGO devices.
A die-cast aluminum heat sink dissipates heat for stable charging, and the included sensor supports temperature compensation.
RVs and vans. Renogy shows RV and van installs, and the controller supports RV-C communication.
Overland vehicles. Renogy lists overland use for the controller.
Marine. Renogy lists marine use, with 12V battery banks on boats.
A PWM controller needs panel voltage matched to the battery. This MPPT controller tracks the panel's maximum power point and accepts up to 100V, so panels can be wired in series or parallel as needed.
The controller alone includes the solar adapter cable and temperature sensor. The cable options add a 6 AWG Anderson adapter cable of the length you choose, for the battery connection.
Renogy says this controller works only with 12V battery systems, including sealed lead acid, AGM, Flooded, Gel and Lithium batteries. Battery input range is 10V to 16V.
Renogy recommends fuses at both ends. The battery fuse is 80A, and the solar fuse is the array short-circuit current times 1.56. Renogy's manual suggests 4 AWG on the solar side and 6 AWG on the battery side. Connect the battery first and the solar panels second. Mount the controller vertically with at least 6 in (150 mm) of clearance above and below, and never in a sealed enclosure with flooded batteries.
No. The controller has built-in Bluetooth, so you view solar generation in the Renogy DC Home app.
No. Renogy says the controller works only with 12V battery systems.
Renogy lists a maximum solar voltage of 100V and rated solar power of 800W. Renogy suggests combining similar panels.
USER mode lets you set your own charge voltages in the Renogy DC Home app. Turn the knob to USER to enter it.
The controller only option includes the items above. The 5 ft and 10 ft options add one 6 AWG Anderson adapter cable of that length.
The Renogy REGO 12V 60A MPPT Solar Charge Controller brings 100V solar input and Anderson plug-in wiring to your 12V system. If you have questions about your setup, the Outbound Power team is happy to help.
