The Renogy Rover Lite 12V/24V/36V/48V 60A MPPT Solar Charge Controller Charges Any 12V to 48V Battery Bank From Up to 150V of Solar

The Renogy Rover Lite 12V/24V/36V/48V 60A MPPT Solar Charge Controller is a 60 A controller that recognizes 12V, 24V, 36V and 48V systems for non-lithium batteries. It accepts up to 150 V of solar input and works with AGM, gel, flooded, lithium iron phosphate and user-defined battery settings.

It is built for home, RV, marine and workshop power systems that want one controller across several battery voltages. It has an LCD with built-in buttons, and an RS485 port for the Renogy BT-2 Bluetooth module.

Renogy Rover Lite 12V/24V/36V/48V 60A MPPT Solar Charge Controller Features

12V to 48V Systems in One Controller

Renogy rates maximum solar input at 900 W on a 12V battery, 1800 W on 24V and 3200 W on 48V. The controller recognizes non-lithium systems automatically, so the same controller fits each battery voltage.

150V Solar Input for Flexible Wiring

Maximum solar input voltage (Voc) is 150 V. Renogy says you can connect up to six 100 W Renogy panels in series or eleven 100 W Renogy panels in parallel.

MPPT Tracking Above 99%

Renogy rates MPPT tracking efficiency above 99% and conversion efficiency above 97%. It states self-consumption of 0.18 W in 12V systems, which leaves more solar power for the battery.

Low-Temperature Charging Protection

Renogy's image lists charging cut-off near 32°F (0°C) and discharging cut-off near 5°F (-15°C), with tolerances, to help protect lithium batteries in cold weather. The page states full-load operation up to 149°F.

Heat Dissipation Through the Rear Fins

Internal potting moves heat to the external metal heat sinks. Choose a cool, dry, weather-safe mounting location with enough room for ventilation.

Bluetooth Monitoring With the BT-2

Pair the controller with the BT-2 Bluetooth module to monitor charging and store up to two years of data. The With Bluetooth Module option includes it.

Real-World Applications

RV and marine systems. Charge a 12V or 24V house bank from a roof or deck array.

Home and workshop systems. Charge a 48V lithium bank from up to 3200 W of panels.

Cabins. Wire panels in series to use the 150 V solar input range, within your array's Voc.

Practical Comparison

Rover Lite Versus a PWM Controller

A PWM controller needs panel voltage to line up with battery voltage. An MPPT controller turns higher panel voltage into more charge current, so longer series strings are possible.

Controller Only Versus With Bluetooth Module

Both options use the same 60 A controller, temperature sensor and mounting screws. The Bluetooth option adds a module for phone monitoring.

Buyer Guidance

Check Voltage and Power Limits

Keep your array's open circuit voltage under 150 V and your solar wattage inside the limit for your battery voltage. Renogy says the load terminals take DC appliances up to 20 A, and an inverter should connect directly to the battery, not to the load terminals.

This May Be A Good Fit If

  • You run, or plan to move to, a 24V, 36V or 48V battery bank
  • You want 150 V solar input for longer series strings
  • You use lithium batteries in cold weather
  • You want optional Bluetooth data logging

Common Questions

What Battery Types Does It Support?

Charger presets are AGM, gel, flooded, lithium iron phosphate and user custom. Lead-acid charging uses bulk, boost, float and equalization. Lithium uses bulk and boost.

Can I Run an Inverter From the Load Terminals?

No. Renogy says to connect the inverter directly to the battery. The load terminals suit low-power DC devices up to 20 A.

How Many Panels Can I Connect?

Renogy says up to six 100 W Renogy panels in series or eleven 100 W panels in parallel. Series-parallel combinations are also supported.

What Warranty Does It Have?

Renogy lists a 2-year material and workmanship warranty.
