The Renogy Solar Panel Mounting Curved Z Bracket Set of 4 is a bracket kit for mounting a single rigid solar panel to a curved surface. Renogy designed it for surfaces such as those on Airstreams and other RVs, and says it also mounts panels to trailers, boats and yachts.

It is made for owners of small solar setups who need a way to secure a panel where a flat mount will not sit.

Adjustable Angle for Curved Surfaces

Each corner uses two brackets, a curved bracket and a straight bracket. You adjust the angle between them to match the curve. The manual says the system accepts about a 30° curve.

Aluminum Construction

Renogy lists lightweight, corrosion-free aluminum alloy construction with bolts and washers pre-assembled.

Fasteners Included

The kit includes M6 stainless steel bolts, nuts and washers to join the brackets and attach them to the panel frame. It also includes #10 x 1¼ in self-drilling cap screws with plastic retaining rings to secure the straight brackets to the mounting surface.

Renogy recommends 1 set for a single panel up to 100 watts and 2 sets for 150 to 200 watts. It does not recommend it for a single panel over 200 watts.

Curved Z Bracket Versus Flat Z Bracket

A flat Z bracket suits flat surfaces. The curved version lets you adjust the angle between two brackets so the panel can sit on a curve.

Panel Limits

Renogy's manual lists many Renogy panels as compatible, including the RNG-50D and RNG-100D. For panels from other makers, the frame must be aluminum alloy and the panel weight must not exceed 88 lb (40 kg), or 22 lb (10 kg) per bracket. If the distance between brackets along an edge exceeds 39 in (1 m), add brackets for mid-span support. The RNG-300D, RNG-270P and RNG-320P need 2 bracket sets.

Installation Notes

Renogy says installation should be done by a professional contractor to avoid damage from improper sealing. Fasten into a structural element such as a rafter or stud and seal around the brackets and screws. Renogy does not recommend installation on shingle roofs. Renogy's manual also says this system does not provide compliance with residential structural codes and is not a substitute for a system that does, where local regulations require one.
