The Rich Solar 6500 Watt (6.5kW) 48 Volt Off-Grid Hybrid Solar Inverter, now sold by Rich Solar as the NOVA 6548 (RS-H6548), is a 6,500W pure sine wave inverter with 13,000W of surge capacity for 5 seconds. It runs from a 48V battery bank and delivers 120V AC output for homes, cabins, tiny homes, ADUs, RVs and other off-grid systems.
Inside the same case are dual MPPT solar charge controllers that accept up to 8,000W of PV input and an AC charger that works from utility power or a generator, with a combined charge current of up to 120A. Up to six units can run in parallel for more capacity or for split-phase systems, and the inverter is UL 1741 certified.
The inverter supplies 6,500VA/6,500W of continuous 120V AC power, regulated to within 5%, with 13,000W of surge for 5 seconds to help start motors and compressors. Peak inverter efficiency is 91%, and line-mode efficiency is above 95%.
Two MPPT inputs accept 4,000W each, for 8,000W of total PV. Each input handles up to 18A, with an MPPT operating range of 90V to 230V DC and a maximum open-circuit voltage of 250V DC, so you can run long series strings with less current in the wires.
Connect utility power or a generator to the 120V AC input, rated for up to 60A. The NOVA 6548 can charge the battery from solar, AC or both at up to 120A, and configurable charging priority and charging current let you decide when to use each source. Automatic AC recovery resumes normal operation when utility power returns.
Transfer time is 10 ms in UPS mode and 20 ms in appliance mode, which helps keep computers and other sensitive loads running when grid power drops out.

The detachable LCD control module supports BMS communication over RS485, CAN-BUS and RS232. The inverter also offers USB, Wi-Fi and dry contact connections, and it works with AGM, Gel, flooded and lithium batteries.
The inverter protects against overload, over-temperature and short circuits, with battery overcharge protection at 66V DC. An optional 12V DC output supplies up to 100W for small DC loads.
Off-grid homes and cabins. Run household circuits from solar and a 48V battery bank, with a generator as backup.
Tiny homes and ADUs. Power a small dwelling with one unit, or pair units for split-phase 240V loads.
Home backup. Keep critical circuits running during outages and recharge from the grid when it returns.

Workshops and remote sites. Run tools, pumps and equipment where grid power is unavailable or unreliable.
Versus separate components. A separate inverter, AC charger, transfer switch and solar charge controller take more wall space and wiring. The NOVA 6548 combines them in one 5.8 x 17.0 x 21.8 inch unit.
Versus a 12V or 24V inverter. A 48V system draws far less current from the battery for the same load, so cables, fuses and busbars can be smaller. That makes 48V a better match for whole-cabin and home loads.
Versus a grid-tie inverter. A grid-tie inverter needs the grid to operate and usually has no battery. The NOVA 6548 runs off-grid from batteries and solar, and uses utility or generator power when available.
