The Rich Solar MEGA 250 Watt Monocrystalline Solar Panel Fits 250W of N-Type TOPCon Power on Tight RV, Van and Boat Roofs

The Rich Solar MEGA 250 Watt Monocrystalline Solar Panel is a rigid 12V off-grid panel that delivers 250W from 64 half-cut N-Type TOPCon cells with 16 busbars and up to 25.1% efficiency. It measures 60.6 x 29.9 x 1.2 inches, and Rich Solar says it is about 10% smaller than a standard 10-busbar 250W panel, which helps on crowded RV, van and trailer roofs.

The panel weighs 26.9 pounds, carries UL 61730, IEC 61215 and CSA C22.2 certifications, and comes with pre-attached 12 AWG leads, IP67 MC4 connectors and an IP68 junction box. Rich Solar backs it with a 25-year output warranty.

Rich Solar MEGA 250 Watt Monocrystalline Solar Panel Features

Half-Cut, 16-Busbar N-Type TOPCon Cells

Grade A+ N-Type TOPCon cells offer higher efficiency, lower degradation and a longer lifespan. The half-cut, 16-busbar layout reduces power loss, minimizes hotspots and maximizes output, and the 0 to +5W power tolerance means the panel delivers at least its rated 250W.

Steady Power in Low Light and Partial Shade

The cells, busbars and 3.2 mm AR-coated tempered glass work together to capture more light on cloudy days and at dawn and dusk. Bypass diodes keep performance stable in partial shade.

Tough Build for Tough Environments

The IP68 junction box and IP67 connectors give all-weather reliability. The panel withstands 2,400 Pa wind loads and 5,400 Pa snow loads, and Rich Solar rates it against hail up to 35 mm at 97 km/h.

Reinforced 1.3 mm Aluminum Frame

The 1.3 mm thick anodized aluminum frame is reinforced for strength and corrosion resistance, with 14 pre-drilled holes for Z brackets, tilt mounts, pole mounts and ground installs.

Rigorous Testing

Each panel undergoes 30+ mechanical and electrical tests, including PID resistance and 100% EL inspection to help prevent microcracks, plus UV, thermal cycling and humidity freeze testing.

25-Year Output Warranty

Rich Solar backs the MEGA 250 with a 25-year output warranty and a 10-year workmanship warranty. For MEGA Series panels, output is rated at more than 95% after 5 years, 90% after 10 years and 80% after 25 years.

Real-World Applications

RVs and trailers. Put 250W on one roof spot to keep house batteries charged off-grid.

Vans. The compact frame leaves more room for fans and racks than a standard 250W panel.

Boats. Maintain house batteries at the mooring or underway.

Cabins and sheds. Charge a 12V battery bank for lights, pumps and electronics.

Off-grid solar systems. Build a 12V array and add panels as loads grow.

How It Compares to Common Alternatives

Versus standard 10-busbar 250W panels. Rich Solar says the MEGA 250 is about 10% smaller, thanks to its 25.1% efficient N-Type TOPCon cells.

Versus two 100W panels. Two 100W panels give only 200W and need two sets of mounts. One MEGA 250 gives 250W from a single frame and one pair of leads.

Versus the MEGA 250 ONYX. Rich Solar lists the same specifications for both, and they share a spec sheet. The ONYX is the alternate finish.

Is This Panel the Right Fit

  • Charge controller. Use a PWM or MPPT charge controller sized for the panel's 22.8V open circuit voltage and 13.7A short circuit current.
  • Wiring. MC4 connectors support series or parallel wiring. Stay within your controller's voltage and current limits.
  • Roof space. Plan for a 60.6 x 29.9 inch footprint and 26.9 pounds per panel.
  • Inverters. Rich Solar lists the panel as compatible with both on-grid and off-grid inverters.

This may be a good fit if

  • You want 250W of 12V solar from one rigid panel
  • You have limited roof space on an RV, van or trailer
  • You want UL certification and a 25-year output warranty
  • You charge a 12V battery bank in an off-grid system

Common Questions

Do I Need an Inverter to Charge My Battery?

No. You only need a charge controller to charge a battery. An inverter is needed only to run AC appliances from the battery.

Can I Run 110V Appliances From My Solar System?

Yes, with an inverter. The inverter converts the battery's DC power to AC power for your appliances.

Will It Work in Winter?

Yes. Cooler conditions can improve solar panel performance. Keep the panel clear of snow, dirt and shade, since buildup will stop it from generating power.

Can the Panel Overcharge My Battery?

Only if it is used without a charge controller. Always use a charge controller when charging a battery.
