The Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT Pluggable Display gives you a convenient way to monitor a compatible Victron solar charger directly from its front panel. It displays live and historical solar charger data, including PV power, voltage, current, battery voltage, charge current, charge stage, and more. You can also use the display to view or change solar charger settings, making it a practical choice for users who want clear information and local control.
The display plugs directly into the front of the solar charger and can be used as either a permanent or temporary display. It is designed for specified 150V and 250V BlueSolar and SmartSolar MPPT solar charger ranges equipped with a display port.
The LCD screen provides a direct view of important operating information from the connected solar charger. You can check current readings and charge status directly from the display.
Live readings show what is happening now, while historical information helps you review solar charger activity over time. The history menu provides daily and cumulative information that can be accessed directly through the display.
Available historical information includes cumulative PV yield, previous errors, maximum PV voltage, maximum battery voltage, daily PV yield, daily battery voltage readings, time spent in different charge stages, daily maximum PV power, and daily maximum battery current. Daily information can be reviewed for up to 30 days as data becomes available.
The SmartSolar Control display provides access to the solar charger's setup menu, where supported settings can be viewed and changed. Available settings include maximum charger current, battery voltage, charge algorithm, absorption voltage, float voltage, relay functions, temperature compensation, load settings, and other charger parameters.
Settings should only be changed when you understand their purpose and effect. Incorrect settings may cause system problems, including battery damage.
The display connects directly to the display terminal on the front of the solar charger. It can be installed as a permanent display or used temporarily when you need to check information or configure the charger.
The display is hot-swappable, meaning it can be plugged into or removed from the solar charger while the charger is operating. For temporary use, the tape and screws do not need to be used to secure the display.
The front buttons are used to move through solar charger readings and make display or controller settings. The status menu starts automatically and lets you cycle through available live data. An auto-scroll mode can also cycle through menu items every five seconds when activated.
The SmartSolar Control display is designed to insert into the display port on the front of a compatible solar charger. Its listed dimensions are 116mm x 50mm x 25mm, with a weight of 66g.
The display port connector uses an RS232 9-pin pinout.
This display is intended for use with compatible Victron solar chargers rather than as a standalone power device. Its practical value comes from making solar charger information and settings accessible directly at the charger.
For off-grid power systems, the display can provide a convenient local view of PV production, battery charging information, charge stage, and historical performance. For RV and mobile power setups, it can be useful when a compatible solar charger is installed in a location where having a dedicated local display is helpful.
The display can also be useful when commissioning, checking, or adjusting a compatible solar charging system. The specific application depends on the solar charger being used and whether it has the required display port.
A local display serves a different purpose from a standalone monitoring device. The SmartSolar Control display is designed specifically to connect to the front display port of compatible Victron solar chargers, giving you direct access to charger readings, history, and supported settings.
Its main advantage is straightforward local access. Rather than adding a separate general-purpose monitoring screen, this display is made specifically for supported Victron MPPT charger ranges. Compatibility matters, so the charger must be one of the supported 150V or 250V BlueSolar or SmartSolar MPPT models equipped with a display port.
The first thing to confirm before purchasing is the solar charger you plan to connect it to. The display is specified for Victron Energy 150V and 250V BlueSolar and SmartSolar MPPT solar charger ranges equipped with a display port.
The supported ranges include SmartSolar MPPT 150/45 through 250/100, SmartSolar MPPT 150/70 through 250/100 VE.Can, and BlueSolar MPPT 150/70 through 250/100 VE.Can. Confirm your exact solar charger model before purchasing.
