The BougeRV 100W N-Type Fiberglass Foldable Portable Solar Panel is a folding 100W panel with eight solar sections, a gray fabric flap and a small output box built into the back. Folded, it measures 9.3 x 15.0 x 2.56 in and weighs 4.41 lbs. Open, it spreads to 41.7 x 30.5 x 0.79 in to catch the sun.
It's made for camping, RVs, boats and other time outdoors, where you want solar power that packs away small. You can charge a portable power station through the DC port, or plug phones and tablets straight into the USB-C and USB-A ports with no power station in between. BougeRV's manual lists it as compatible with the BougeRV JuiceGo 240Wh.
The output box has three ports. The DC port supplies up to 100W at 16.7V and 6A for a power station. The USB-C port supplies up to 45W at 5V, 9V, 12V or 15V and 3A. The USB-A port supplies up to 18W at 5V 3A, 9V 2A or 12V 1.5A. One panel can charge your storage and your devices.
BougeRV rates the solar cells at 25% efficiency. The panel's maximum power is 100W, with a maximum power voltage of 16.7V and a maximum power current of 6.17A. Open circuit voltage is 19.6V and short circuit current is 6.48A. BougeRV gives each of these ratings a tolerance of -5% to +10%.
BougeRV calls this a book-sized 100W panel. The sections fold together behind the fabric flap into a 9.3 x 15.0 in package that is 2.56 in thick, so you can carry it under your arm or pack it in a bag. At 4.41 lbs, it's easy to move to a sunnier spot during the day.
Four attachment carabiners come in the box. They clip through the metal eyelets on the panel, so you can hang it on the back of a backpack while you hike or on the side of a tent at camp. That way it can face the sun while you hike or set up camp.
BougeRV lists an operating range of -4°F to 140°F. The temperature coefficient for maximum power is -0.35%/°C, for open circuit voltage -0.3%/°C and for short circuit current +0.048%/°C.
Setup takes a minute. Unfold the panel, angle it so it faces the sun directly and plug in. When you're done, the manual shows a simple folding order that brings the sections back together behind the flap.
Backpacking. Clip the panel to your backpack with the carabiners and charge a phone from the USB ports as you hike.
Tent camping. Hang it on the side of your tent or lay it open on the ground in the sun, then plug in your devices or a power station.
Power station charging. Run the DC cable to a portable power station such as the BougeRV JuiceGo 240Wh and store solar energy for the evening.
RVs, boats and the yard. Set it up beside your RV, on a boat or in your home yard to add solar charging without any mounting hardware.
A rigid panel is made to be mounted in one place, such as an RV roof. This folding panel packs into a 9.3 x 15.0 in package and goes where you go, so you can move it to follow the sun and take it home when the trip ends.
A panel with only a DC output needs a power station or controller before you can charge a phone. This panel adds USB-C and USB-A ports to its output box, so small devices can charge straight from the panel while the DC port serves a power station.
The DC port delivers up to 100W at 16.7V through the included DC 5521/7909 charger cable. Check that your power station's solar input accepts one of those plugs and this voltage. BougeRV notes that solar input values depend on the power station's maximum PV input, so a station with a lower input limit will charge more slowly.
Light intensity affects output, and bright sunlight gives the panel good charging conditions. Unfold it fully and align it directly under the sun. BougeRV also advises keeping phones and tablets out of direct sunlight while they charge, because too much heat may damage them.
Yes. Plug into the USB-C port for up to 45W or the USB-A port for up to 18W. Keep the phone in the shade while it charges.
BougeRV shows a charging time of about 4.8 hours for the JuiceGo 240Wh through the DC port. Actual time depends on sunlight and the power station's maximum PV input.
The panel comes with a DC 5521/7909 charger cable for connecting to a power station's DC input.
BougeRV lists the panel at 4.41 lbs, and it folds to 9.3 x 15.0 x 2.56 in.
BougeRV lists a 2-year warranty on this panel.
The BougeRV 100W N-Type Fiberglass Foldable Portable Solar Panel gives you 100W of solar power, DC, USB-C and USB-A outputs and four carabiners in a panel that folds to 9.3 x 15.0 in.
